That was an excellent interview by Justin Hoke. The article includes what was said, but the video was great...hearing it straight from Jovon Robinson was good stuff.

This is an interesting read about Auburn recruiting.

“A lot of programs will just put out a lot of offers, but they are not committable offers,” Garner says. “They feel like they have to do it to get in the game. Then they rescind so many offers. That tends to raise some questions about what kind of program you are running.
“That’s the thing with Coach Malzahn. When we extend an offer, it’s a committable offer. Some people ask why we are late on some kids. It’s because when we extend an offer, we want to be ready to take that commitment.”

Sounds like we will have a lot of late commitments and flips from other schools.

I actually like the idea of giving non committable offers. Maybe they should change the name of them to "prospective offers" or something like that, but I think it gives you a chance to see where these kids stand in regards to your program. I guess our coaches are doing that in a roundabout way, but I don't have a problem with offering a kid as long as he knows it's not committable until it is.
I've given the analogy before that recruiting is like dating.
That first offer is basically asking the recruit if they're interested.
Then it progresses to visits, etc.
Then you say you can commit, which is basically like getting engaged.
Then the LOI is more or less the marriage.
I know it's kind of a weird analogy, but the principle is the same.

According to around 200 prospects, we do give non-committable offers

Write RG and tell him of your findings.

Is Kai Locksley a take if he wanted to commit early or will the coaches wait and see what happens with Gibson?

2016 OLB Keion Joyner is expected to be a 5* when 2016 rating comes out. He visited AU yesterday and today. AU was the leader last month but now in the top 3 with LSU leading. Highlights

Per AUC top AU boundary safety target Jordan Colbert will be at scrimmage tomorrow if transportation works out. Rumor is 6'5 4* WR committed to UGA Christian Owens, who Keith calls a monster will visit with JC. JC and CO are cousins. Highlights

FWIW Hoke has Jovon 65% to AU. Decision likely in May. Jovon hopes to be back for the A-Day game.

5* WR Christian Kirk plans to visit AU in late May or early June per AUR. Would be nice if it were for BCW.

If he visits us for A-day over Bama, id pretty much say hes a lock.

It'd be nice to get Jovon back. That's a lot of talent in the backfield.

I don't know if we wind up with the #1 class but I don't know how you can help but feel really good about the possibilities! I agree with you on Jovon and A - Day.

I have a good friend that ran track for AU back in the early 90s with the last name Joyner and also from NC. No clue if they are related but I will find out.
