"In no order, my new top five is Alabama, Florida, Michigan, South Carolina and Virginia Tech," the 6-foot-4, 245-pound Hand said. If it weren't for Coach Lawing, I wouldn't have even thought about Florida."

Let's hope our new coach can change his mind.....

Hopefully Karibi can do some work with him

people need to keep 2014 in perspective... 12 months ago, guys like Carl Lawson and Chris Jones weren't on anyone's radar, yet they ended up being two of the top 3 or 4 DLs in the 2013 class.
Lawson was a pretty good player as a JR, but he didn't blow up until last summer (hell, none fo the recruiting services had any game film on him when he committed)... Peyton Barber was a more 'popular' name before his injury.
It's also shows how important it is for staffs to do their own evaluations, especially at their on-campus camps.

I have confidence this staff will go after and pull in some top rated talent. We definitely will not get them all, but I am confident we will get our share and a top 5 class.

I'm having a difficult time getting into 2014 recruiting just yet. I really am looking forward to practices starting. I think I am going to try and make it to A day this year.

I think i'll be going as well... I want to see with my own eyes if the new S&C program has improved the team.
Malzahn also put on a pretty good show in his first A-day as OC back in 2009... i'm expecting us to show-out a little on offense, to help build some buzz.

Deshaun Watson is the #1 rated QB committed to Clemson, gotta think Gus will be all over him.

QB NOT a need in '14. JJ is the future. Want a backup, great, sign a guy. Focus in on linemen (DT and Gs and Ts) and corner.

DBs 3
OLs 4
DLs 3
LBs 15 (maybe 2 of them will be worth a crap)

A kid who hasn't even stepped foot on campus is the future? Cool crystal ball bro.
Malzahn and company will look to sign an elite QB in 2014. Just like any other half-competent coach would do.

Agree....
We didn't need to take a big QB IN 2012 since Frazier was the future, so we let Winston walk on out the door.
And that worked out so well for us.

What does gus actually prefer at QB in his system? A true dual threat, a pocket passer, or a combo?
His bread and butter zone read seemingly requires a dual threat QB...

And before someone says something, Pike was always a risk and a project, and he busted faster than Ryan Perriloux

I think you will see us go after a big name at QB. Gus seems to always target a solid prospect every year. I would absolutely do backflips if we get get Deshaun Watson but not sure how likely that is.
But I agree the DT position needs to be a big focus. I think we need 3 DTs at the minimum considering we only have 2 underclassmen. Very curious to see how the battles go this season specifically Williams, Hamilton, and Clark

We get a QB, we get a QB. Great. It's not the focus. It's not what we're going to build the class around.
