It's official.

It's Ok, we didn't really want him or any of the others we missed on.

We cant keep one Auburn HS or Opelika player

All right there close to Auburn, and still going elsewhere. However, with schools close to Tuscaloosa, they all seem to go to Alabama. I understand Alabama is on a tear and Auburn is down, but son of a bitch.

We probably need to face some facts about this 2014 class in the state; Alabama is about to dominate, a la 2009. Bo Scar, Marlon Humphrey, Racean Thomas, Ronnie Clark, Stephen Roberts, and Shaun Dion Hamilton are all Alabama's to lose. I want to throw Tre' Williams in with that group, but I'm remaining optimistic that we can land him right now.
Still plenty of time to go, but we need to crank it up. Thankfully we are usually able to raid nearby states for recruits. We will need to in this class.

Gus is going to have to show these recruits we aren't the same 3-9 team from last year. Only way to do that is win in 2013. Ellis also needs to show he can run a competent defense at Auburn. If those things happen, then recruiting Alabama athletes will pick up

I have faith in Ellis Johnson, but we're pretty much putting all our faith in Nick Marshall or Jeremy Johnson right now. One of them needs to rise to the top so we can win some SEC games.

It's quite simple. Going to Bama means high visibility and getting drafted. Oh and a good chance you might be a NC champion.
Nino called it and the best way to compete against that is win. If we can do that and win an Iron Bowl here and there we will win some head to heads in recruiting. Our program has been through the ringer with a lot of bad press. We will be back.

Very few reasons to be optimistic these days.
We really need some quality wins this year.

Auburn kinda sucks. Not everyone wants to stay home to go to college.

Exactly. Win and put players in the NFL, and you'll get more recruits. It's not rocket science.
It really did amaze me that we were able to pull the caliber of class we did this year given 1) we sucked a big one and 2) we had a coaching overhaul less than 2 months before Signing Day.

I can definitely agree with this.
Where I am from there was a large instate school within 30 minutes and a large instate school a few hours away that really are interchangeable in terms of most variables.
Almost no one went to the 30 minute away school

Not the case here...
Birmingham is 40 mins away from Tuscaloosa and 2 hrs away from Auburn. A lot of people from B'ham go to UA...as well as people from Tuscaloosa, Jasper, Prattville

I guess coaches are not too confident in the quarterback race, Clint Trickett (FSU transfer) visited Auburn this morning
Posted on 4/25/13 at 9:44 am to auburnundergrad
No thanks for me. I'll be glad to sink or swim with Marshall or Johnson.
FSU takes Winston out from under us and we are gonna take the reject he beat out? No way.

Trickett has two years of eligibility remaining after this season and will be cleared to play this year due to the graduate transfer rule
