quote:If it makes a difference with even 1 recruit then it's completely worth it. I will put it in these statistical terms. Of all the recruits that Auburn and Bama are interested in and vice versa only 1 (Roc Thomas) came to Auburn. The rest went to Bama today. As for the choosing part I talked with Bryan Matthews today at the game today and he said with the new staff coming in they could not change the date this time but he hopes and thinks it would be a wise idea to start putting it on a different day than Bama's. Saying we don't need to worry about Bama is a great sentiment but not reality. I am not saying having a complex about it but use some strategic planning to maximize your opportunities. In fact, since we are basically the #2 school in both states of Alabama and Georgia I think it would be good to have the spring game different than both those teams if possible. There is a time and place to go head to head with those schools but A Day date is not one of them IMO.
What difference does if make. We need to worry about Auburn, which we did, we set the date that best fit us without worrying about that school up the road. A spirit that is not afraid.

I thought the games were on different days a few years back and Saban moved Bama's to conflict with Auburns. I could be wrong.

Agreed with ellitor but we're definitely the best team in our home state (Georgia).

I think this is a great idea.

Much classier than East Alabama

And let me clarrify that when I said #2 in those states I meant on terms of fandom only. Even if recruits are not die hard for either state school they will have pressure from their family and friends to attend events at those schools as opposed to Auburn if done at the same time.

April 6--Florida, Georgia
April 13--Ole Miss, South Carolina, Vandy, Texas A&M, Kentucky
April 20--Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, LSU, Tennessee, Missouri, Miss State
---------
So I guess we could have done it a week sooner. Still I prefer the same weekend, the guys that come are serious about Auburn. Also I think we announced our date first.

We did. 4 months earlier to be precise.

LSU worries about what Bama is doing. UGA worries about what Bama is doing. A&M worries about what Bama is doing. UF worries about what Bama is doing. Ole Miss worries about what Bama is doing. MSU worries about what Bama is doing. USC worries about what Bama is doing. UF worries about what Bama is doing. They are at the top right now, and if Auburn ISN'T worried about what they are doing and how to combat it, then we're not just behind Bama, we're behind LSU, UGA, A&M, UF, OM, MSU, and UF.
Coincidentally, that just about describes how we finished last year.

Hate to change the subject but someone needs to lol
A couple interesting tweets from Roc Thomas yesterday after A Day. I don't really speak 17 year old kid but it doesn't seem pro bama.
"Bama offers everyone, how do you expect them not to be good"
"You get hurt up there, you get replaced just like that"

You don't think you could have condensed that at all?

Outside of Roc I don't really care about RBs. Success at RB is more dependent on OLine success and unless you are getting one of the top backs, there are so many ones that slip between the cracks

Per Tidenation.com of ESPN Stephen Roberts is quoted as almost committed yesterday and plans to commit before the summer.

Any idea what that means for us?
