We WOULD throw more if the WRs didn't drop so many fricking passes.
Maybe they drop passes because they don't get thrown to a lot?

Y'all realize that we can't be a one dimensional offense against good defenses right? We've only passed so little recently because we went up against 2 of the worst rush defenses in the SEC. Purely running isn't going to work on the Bama/LSU/UGA. This 80/20 run offense isn't a permanent thing.
Which is why I was pissed that we didn't take time during the FAU and Arkansas games to work on our passing in garbage time. I've been saying this for weeks. When you're running for 300 yards a game, you run the ball, but Gus is kidding himself if he thinks we can just start passing when we need to against UGA and, more importantly, 'Bama.

Thank you. I was beginning to think I was going crazy.
It's true. And it's not just 1 or 2...It's ALL of them. Tony Stevens had a beautiful pass hit him in the 8 today...drop.
Sammie, Ricardo, Quan, MDavis...they ALL drop it.

If Nick was always accurate and no issues with our receivers dropping balls. I wouldn't be bothered. We all know we are not overly efficient in our passing game. Again that is my opinion and hope I am so wrong.

Yes it is true TLaw, so does that mean you stop throwing to get them reps in a game you have total control over? Are they all of a sudden going to start catching in the UGA and Bama games?

I didn't know we had the Spring/Summer before playing UGA and Bama this season? My bad I feel better now.

His point was if he gets better during spring/summer then he would be getting better during practice throughout the year.

LOL nice add on, but that wasn't the point of that post.
Yes he is getting better in practice, but real game situations are different than practice. Period.

I'm talking about next year's offense, and why having a passing game is important to that. Which is why we need DQ.

This I can agree on. I want DQ definitely. However with that said. He was quite open about saying he will be watching what Auburn does. A one and done top WR like him looking at this years passing game, well if I'm him I am liking LSU more. Looking from his perspective only. Not what we as fans see in potential.

I think we are talking about 2 different issues here. All my statements were made to reenforce that we aren't becoming GT, and we need DQ next year. I agree that I don't like the lack of passing the past couple of games, and Nick's skills aren't going to improve over the next couple weeks

Well screw it then
. I'm tired and going to bed. I will let the GusBus figure it out. May Nick find his touch and our receivers learn to catch. May we hold onto top talent and go and kick as another day.

It didn't seem like a coincidence that the only underthrown (as opposed to airmailed) pass from Nick Marshall all year was in the Arky game. I don't believe his shoulder was fully healthy in that game
This Tennessee game I agree though. He should have passed

Listen, Ellitor is nothing but a wanna-be insider noob. i am the real insider here and you can expect 1 to 10 more commitments between now and signing day but it is all fluid so I don't want to say who they are yet. I will confirm who they are when they commit though so you know they are correct.

He'd be a fool to go to LSU...A go-to WR is ALL we're missing.
Whereas LSU doesn't even know who the QB will be next season.
We will start the season in the Top 5...and everyone will lose their starting QB in the SEC EXCEPT us.

We see it totally different. He'd be making a good decision to go to LSU because they consistently send WR to the NFL.
He'll be making a good decision either way

quote:No. They drop passes because overall they are not that talented. None of our WRs would be higher than the #3 WR in a quality passing offense. Coates has potential to be a #1 someday but he is not there yet. DQ is an instant #1 WR and would get balls immediately. Gus wants a #1 WR in his offense every year to balance the run but if he does not have a #1 WR he will ground and pound as many teams into submission as he can.
Maybe they drop passes because they don't get thrown to a lot?

I actually agree with this. I am shocked that a couple more big receivers haven't tried to jump on the bus with us now. You know that Marshall will be the guy next year and we have a commodity in Jeremy Johnson that has shown that he has the ability to be a big time player. Tack on top that our offense is blowing up right now and have a good bit of young linemen and you have a set up for a good run on offense.
DQ would be pretty stupid to not want to come to Auburn at this point if he wants a good shot at a ring next year while getting his numbers.
