Anyone else a little bummed with the lack of public excitement from recruits about Auburn? Last year, people were chomping at the bit to be a part of what A&M did and doing it out loud. While I assume we are doing better in recruiting, bothering me that either A no info is coming out or B we aren't enjoying the public perception joyride we deserve after exceeding our expected win total 9 games into the season
Part of it has to do with TAMu signing 31 so they had more spots to lets recruits be excited about. We are only projected to sign 23 so publicly there is not much room on this year's train.

Sims has not been a take for a while. He waited too long to try and commit. We have discussed the Casher sitch at length.

At tackle we have a RS SO, SO, 2 RS FR.
At Guard we have a JR, SO, and 2 RS FR.

I'd say we're fine not taking any at those positions this year. I'd like a Center in this class but it's not a necessity.

I've been thinking about this lately and I think it may be possible that this staff can't recruit quite like like the past one did. But if they still stay competitive with the rest of the league in recruiting and continue developing players well, the end result should still be better.

It won't be quite like the Tubbs days of taking 2 and 3 stars and sending them to the NFL. But it won't be like Chizik's 4 and 5 stars who never contribute either.

I don't think we'll see much of a recruiting drop off at all with Craig and Garner on staff. Once they leave we might but our class right now is comparable to what our class was this same time the past couple of years

I'd rather take a DT or S instead of an OL prospect with the way our depth is spread thin there.

They are every bit as good. They are just more focused on winning that recruiting because they know that's the best option in the short term.

It's not like someone has taken his spot...

We need to take in-state players like him, IMO. Same goes with Josh Casher.

I'm not necessarily buying it either, but the OL has definitely performed better through 9 games than when we took Casher's commitment in the summer... maybe some of the younger guys who aren't getting PT have looked good, and the need to sign OLs has decreased.

who knows... but our biggest recruiting weekends are ahead of us.

I understand not taking Casher but it always seemed like we would take one OG/OC and if Sims wanted to commit and we weren't getting Casher we would take Sims

Just weird to think that two guys who were takes we are now turning down

Same here. That's my concern with this class.

I don't know all the facts obviously, but it seems hypocritical for the staff to shun Josh Casher but yet allow D'haquille Williams to continue to flirt with LSU.

What am I missing? As the coaches have apparently made clear, you're either 100% committed or you're not.

Sims seems like another Eric Mack type player, too fat and probably not athletic enough. get one more o lineman and focus on defensive front and secondary.

We probably should not judge or compare Eric Mack's career to any possible future Auburn player. There's no telling how his career could have turned out had those tragic circumstances not surrounded him and the rest of the Auburn team.

DQ is a can't miss player who hasn't decommited and isn't flirting with the instate rival who has flipped a 5* every year since 2010

DQ has not been committed to us before then opened things up openly and then want to come back and recommit while still wanting to take visits even though it's a stipulation not to. That what happened with Casher. If DQ committed to us early then opened up and later wanted to recommit while wanting to take visits I am sure the staff would have to think about it some. This staff's philosophy seems to be you can commit to us and take visits. But if you open up and want to recommit later or you better not come back with trying to keep taking visits on the table like Casher did. You better be done with recruiting.

I don't see how anyone can question the ability of Craig and Garner. Anyone who has followed recruiting even a little knows that those two are two of maybe the top five in college football. An argument could be made that Craig is #1 IYAM.
