IIRC Gus sells the opportunity to compete for for playing time, not playing time itself.

Any coach worth a damn would take that approach. You never promise playing time. You tell them if you come in and work your arse off and are good enough to help the team win games, then you'll get it.

Nice article from al.com for those not big on recruiting wrt 2015 recruiting.

Sounds like we have a chance at top 5 for 2015 if we get some of the big dogs on the Bus.

As much as I criticize CGC he was the one saying Russel Wilson could compete to start if he came here. Gus was wanting to promise RW the job to get him here. Granted our QBs on roster were bad which warranted about the most opportune time to promise a kid they would start but don't think Gus won't promise a kid something if he is not pretty certain it will come to pass.

You would too if it was Russell Wilson you were trying to bring in. There wasn't one QB on the roster that came close to his ability and skill. Gus was right to want to say that imo.

This is true. Bielema told RW that he'd be the starter, no doubt. I know for an absolute fact that RW preferred to come to Auburn, but w/ only one yr left he had to have some guarantee that he'd be the guy. Chizik wouldn't say those words.

Per 247 Auburn will get his other OV. It may be before his OV to Bama but those are his last 2 OVs. Quotes from Rudolph LINK
quote:

(Wide receivers) coach Dameyune Craig is telling me about how this stuff (with my recruiting) maybe is getting hectic because I’m hearing a lot from different coaches. He said they can offer me what no one else can do. He tells me to take my time. I’m friends with Marcus Davis who plays there.

On what team is after him the hardest

what role does Randolph fill? Is he an outside guy or more of a speedy slot guy?

Long term #1 WR. DQ will be 1 and done. We got some #2 & #3 WRs on the team now but Gus wants to have a true #1 WR on the field each year to balance the run game.

Rivals says Dontavius Russell has been paying a lot of attention to us, selling him on playing time and monty adams' success.

Per the weekly Mind of Mike segment. I expect Hoke to have more info on the WR tomorrow. LINK

The DSOR is going to be a crucial game for recruiting in general

So I saw Harris signed a financial aid agreement with LSU. Hadn't heard of that before.

What do we reckon Gus thinks of this new option? Any recruits it might be useful to pursue this with?

I don't think a financial aid agreement is binding for the recruit/athlete. He can still sign his LOI to another school. It just binds LSU to give him a scholly. This happened last cycle with an LSU/Bama recruit I think

All correct from what I read. Only benefit for the school seems to be unlimited contact with the recruit.

I don't think so. The mid year financial aid rule just went into affect a couple of weeks ago.
