What all recruits did we beat Bama out for this past year. I know Monty Adams, but I couldn't come up with any others except maybe Jason Smith, but I couldn't remember exactly how high he was on Bama.

Earnest Robinson turned down the chance to be the greatest tight end Alabama football has ever seen

I was going to post the same thing but I never understood Earnest as a TE. I've read that he is closer to 6'1 and doesn't seem to have a frame to get up to 250 to be a TE

That was some BS one of the Bama guys was spewing on the SECrb last summer. I was just poking fun at it

For all intents and purposes Monty was the only one. I fell that will change some though this year with Coach Craig on the job.

We aren't going to be stealing many Alabama recruits unless we start regularly winning SEC Championships. We had a hard time winning recruiting battles when Tuberville was going undefeated and won 6 in a row. We don't stand a chance when Bama is going for 4/5 NCs

yep. while Saban is at Bama, they won't lose many recruits.

God I hope so. I'm tired of our arseholes being the permanent resting for Nick Saban's cork.
FWIW 2015 Rivals O-lineman to watch Josh Williams has Auburn over Bama and Kentucky as his super early favorites.

In state, unless a kid grew up a rabid AU fan and we got to him real early, we don't stand a chance. The only exception can be a kid being a backup/not their first choice/worried about depth that causes the prospect to feel slighted.
Doesn't matter if we were riding a hot streak like Texas A&M and winning 9-10 games. When your in state rival has 70% of the state's fan base, particularly the non college graduate demographic, and have won 3/4 NCs plus pumped out first round million dollar contracts for 4-6 players on average every year, hard to say no

It's not all about in state kids and the original question did not even bring up in state. it simply was who did we beat Bama for last year. Then you go on your pointless soapbox. I say it's pointless because we have beat Bama for recruits despite their championships. For example Coleman, Florence, and Theresie were straight up head-to-head wins. And Liner and Foster would have been wins had we not had to replace the staff. With all due respect GC I am disappointed. You are a respected poster and this defeatest, we are Bama's stitch attitude you are showing is very unbecoming. It's defeatest, quitting attitudes like that which would make us Bama's Stitch, not what happeened in the past. I say F that shite cuz fighting is the only way to get through the Saban Storm. Not having a defeatest attitude and quitting. Rant Over!

With the style of offense AU has, we will not be going head to head as much on O in some cases. I also feel should Auburn move back to being a formidable team we will again win recruiting battles. We will also be beating Bama again despite Saban and their top recruiting classes. I for one am excited to see what Malzahn does on O with no interference. I also really like our defensive staff. Not to mention we have many good recruiters on staff. Frick Bama! Time will tell and I am going to A Day to get a glimpse.

While I am a bit of a "realist" when it comes to AU football, you still are absolutely right. While in state may be a bit more difficult, there is no reason why if we don't have a good season, have momentum and are lights out on the trail with relationships that we can't win some battles.

And remember beating Saban for in state kids has been done by a then out of state coach. Craig beat Saban straight up for Chris Casher and Jaboo Winston, 2 guys Bama very much wanted.

I can't say I'm particularly excited for any of the QBs I think we actually have a shot at this year. That said, I'm hoping that JJ is the answer long term and that we can afford to take someone that will be a solid back up this year. Key word being hoping.

I find it funny when people say this about college ball. Long term in college is 3 seasons at most.

David Cornwell has an absolute cannon, I would love him but I think he ends up in more of a pro-style system maybe UT or Bama
Posted on 3/18/13 at 9:20 am to AUtigR24
UT is definitely NOT a pro-style system... it's the main reason Tyler Bray didn't stick around for his senior year. They'll be a shotgun, four/five wide team who uses the short passing game.
When it comes to QBs, having a strong arm is great, but IMO attributes like accuracy, running ability, decision making rank higher than arm-strength.
