According to him and his best friend who just signed with Ole Miss, Ole Miss would pay in the 1-2k range for each visit you would make to get people there and then bonuses for visiting after you committed to help recruit others
Yeah that goes with the rumors last cycle that Ole Miss gave guys 1k per visit. But like we've both said, little things like this happen at every school that cares

I feel like you're straying from your argument too much.

Comparing the DEs that Saban puts in the NFL (4-3 DTs) to the 4-3 DEs that Auburn (or even EJ and RG) puts in the NFL is like comparing apples to oranges.

quote:

Saban isn't putting anymore DEs in the NFL than we have since he's been there....

Then you throw in Garner and how much more EJ uses DEs and its not ever comparable.

I went off of the NFL projections for the players not where they played in college. Me and Chin already talked about it but the number of DEs Garner has put there is there with the number of Jack LBs Saban has.

Well compare this to the last three Jack LBs Saban has had

Xzavier Dickson- Preseason All SEC and expected high draft pick

Courtney Upshaw- All SEC and first few picks of second round of draft projected 1st round

Donta Hightower- 1st round pick and All SEC

Hard to argue with three striaght success stories at the position

Also fun fact (and time to get on recruiting again),

Trenton Thompson from Albany Georgia was in town during the same weekend as the OVs (it was metioned to me but I am pretty sure it was that weekend could be the June weekend). He was in town for JR day also (247 says in June as well) and had a great time. He was upset he didn't get to see Malzahn on JR day but it had more to do with awkward logistics.

From what I have heard, even though people say he is a big UGA lean (100% CB prediction), that isn't nearly as true as it would seem and assuming a good year for Auburn, we are seriously at play

This Jack LB argument is pointless. They are Jack LBs for a reason. They are LBs in college and the NFL thus making them irrelevent to this discussion.

We are just pointing out that Justin Thornton would not play DE at Alabama and so Raybern's suggestion that Auburn DEs > Alabama DEs in regards to Thornton's recruitment is irrelevant

Alabama Jack LB production therefore is relevant.

ETA: I have tried to change the subject already E Let's start talking about Trent Thompson. We need some DTs and I have heard multiple times he loves Auburn and has seriously loved his AU visits

I don't know much about how his visits went with other schools and where he stands with them, I just know that not only has he shown up a lot to AU, he has been very pro AU during the early visits and he has seemed to continue that trend from what I hear from people who saw him there

I heard he was made a mod or something awhile back at Scout or osmething. I know they made an effort to post articles from what I heard.

I loved his stats but sometimes he was a bit of a positiger for me with his selective stats.

I am just waiting to see what happens if we have a good year as far interest from players that seem out of play now. If Gus's offense can be good enough to be 8-5 like the 2 years without Cam and EJ can put together even a decent defense to go along with it, we will have alot more kids looking our way than are right now. Maybe even a few flips.

If we went 8-5 and went the track of Ole Miss, finish strong along with being competitive in our losses (at least at the end of the year), we will be solid.

The thing that will hurt is that Alabama will be at the end of the year which could absolutely kill us momentum wise. If we could have an 09 iron bowl we would be in business
