2014 Auburn Football Recruiting Thread quote: If he's taller than Dens on and Coates then he's at least 6'3. He looks huge in that pic Yeah both Stevens and Walker are around 6'3

Stevens and Walker are both 6'3....and as I have said since March of last yr, Stevens is a 5* WR and as close to AJ Green as I've seen since Green himself. Once he puts on weight he will dominate.

Because Tigerboi seems to think Walker and Stevens are poor here are the very positive ESPN analysis of them

Walker

quote:

Walker is an impressive outside wide receiver prospect who is capable of reaching top speed rapidly and threatening vertically on every snap. He is tall, rangy, has some natural bulk and a wide wingspan to create space and separation. He drives off the line with purpose and threatens a DB's cushion right away. He is very smooth and athletic for a big wide receiver. He is quick and displays good change-of-direction skills. He is not afraid to go over the middle and is very effective on slants and underneath quick hitters. He extends high to pluck poorly thrown balls and shows very good body control to adjust to the over-the-shoulder downfield ball. He shows good sideline awareness and generally does a good job of getting feet down in bounds. He flashes excellent upper body strength and can shed press coverage. He uses his frame to shield defenders from ball, flashes the ability to make the tough catch in traffic and is a productive red zone receiver. He runs hard after the catch and flashes the ability to pick up yards after contact. He is a slippery wide receiver who isn't overly sudden, but he is elusive and is a bit of a glider. Walker is still working on becoming a crisp route runner. He rounds off cuts and will gear down too much at the top of breaks, but he does show burst coming out and can separate --especially for a bigger player. We are concerned that he may lack a second gear and top rate speed as a consistent vertical threat for the next level, but his size gives him value in this role. He is such a good leaper and positions himself to make the play in contested matchups. Walker is a good player. He has a high ceiling for development as a route runner and he competes for the ball.

Stevens

quote:

Given Stevens' height and length, he possesses very good movement skills and plays with good pad level. He is long and wiry with much-needed bulk to be added. He is fluid and graceful for such a tall player at the position. His surge off the ball is strong and he gets into routes quickly. He shows good coverage recognition to adjust routes with proper release and displays soft, reliable hands. He consistently catches the ball away from his body and adjusts well to the bad passes thrown behind him. He shows great production after the catch and is shifty and nimble footed. He does a good job of making the first defender miss and breaks tackles in the open field. He flashes good deep ball skills and can adjust to over the shoulder throw. He will fight for the jump ball, isn't afraid to go over the middle and is very consistent in the red zone. He demonstrates good route running skills. He does a nice job of breaking the out route back at a slight angle allowing an easier throw for the QB and eliminating chance of interception. He sticks defenders and shows good burst out of cut. He displays good effort and finishes every play. He comes back to ball well and possesses good field awareness. He is a smart receiver prospect as he does a very good job of reading zone coverage and finding open areas. HE shows toughness and competitiveness by coming back for blocks in open field and is a good, physical blocker. Stevens displays very consistent hands and the ability to pluck, but is also a body/cradle catcher on throws within his frame when he does not need to be. He has very natural skills for the position and can make things look effortless. He has significant punt return experience, but may be better suited as a kick returner at the next level. Stevens is a very good prospect.

Every single visit Lamin has taken has been his favorite up to that point. He could take a visit to Troy and say Troy is now his leader. Guy is an emotional hand grenade.

Recent events seem to be in our favor with Ronnie Clark. He apparently was supposed to go hang out at Bama's last camp but no showed. Then he and his family showed up to Auburn on Saturday with nobody knowing he was coming then. Even though we knew he was coming some time in July you usually know a couple of days to a week before a visit and not the POOF, the guy appears like Nightcrawler from the X-Men like it happened here.

More on Lamin per AUR. We are 4th being SCar, Arky, and Tennessee. He is coming to his OV alone but his mom will play a role in his decision.

Read somewhere today, couldn't say where, might even have been here, that Erique Florence was spotted on the Troy campus.

Damn dude, this was over a week ago ...and please direct me to where I said that...

I trust KK's analysis over ESPN's anyday, and he's speaks highly of Stevens so that's great...Ive also heard the reports of him doing well in summer practice and that's even better...if we can hold onto DW, resign J. Smith, and pull in Travis Rudolph (or just another talented 4yr receiver) for this class, I'll be estatic

Speaking of Troy, apparently Pat Milliner, Dee Milliner's brother, has been telling everyone he knows that the only reason he didn't end up at Auburn was because of an injury. He's been saying that he was offered and everything. I only know because I have a lot of friends he parties with down there.

Anyone that follows recruiting knows that is complete bullshite. He wasn't good enough to have an Auburn offer.

he may have been offered a prefered walkon spot, or something similar... and we all know kids use the term "offer" without ever actually having one.

I said poor, I really meant to say "meh" to be accurate

ESPN's analysis piece on recruits are decent insights to the types of players they are. They may not project future potential well but they do give an idea of the type of player they are

You may trust KK more than ESPN but it doesn't change the laws of statistics that would suggest that the more positive reviews of a kid, the more likely you are to be closer to the mean than a few standards deviations above/below it

Fine with me. I don't think he's a must have guy anyways. I'd rather get Lambert, if possible.

We are a long shot anyway. The potential positive is IF he reschedules where his mom can come. She was not going to be able to come if Abu had visited tomorrow.

BM expects Abu to reschedule later for the Summer or Fall.
