said he could see himself at Auburn.

This is a non-quote and meaningless. It doesn't take a great stretch of imagination for anybody to see themself at Auburn or anywhere else. Wait! For a second there I saw myself at--
Just heard this from too many recruits. Not a shot at you.

So stoked for him. Great story

Devaroe has wanted this offer since before his first visit, no? I just read he was out of football two years ago and saw there were tryouts at GMC. What's the rest of the story?

JC’s take: Here’s what 247Sports national recruiting director JC Shurburtt had to say about Williams and his commitment to Auburn.

“Williams could have a Cordarrelle Patterson-type impact at Auburn, except he's better. I was talking to a fellow recruiting analysts a couple of months ago, someone I really respect and trust, and he told me Williams had some of the best receiver film he's seen during his career, which spans two decades. I agree that it ranks among the best, especially when you factor in that he's 6-foot-4 and is as agile/fast as he is. As Auburn fans well know, sometimes a great junior college player can change the course of a season for the good. Williams is that type of guy for sure. He's the clear top JUCO prospect in the country this cycle, so that makes this as big as it gets for recruiting in that space.”

Ya that is what I was thinking but he gave off a great vibe during the visit and we should feel good walking away. Long way to go with him but it sounded like it was a positive trip

More about his upbringing. Heard bits and pieces of him being raised in foster care when younger last time he visited and how he had to tryout at GMC without being recruited. He supposedly is extremely positive to a fault and upbeat. Worked his arse off to get here all things considered and you have to believe he will continue to work when he arrives on campus.

JHoke wrote this

Two years ago, he wasn't even playing football. It wasn't until last summer that Lawrence heard about a football tryout at Georgia Military College.

Good stuff. And I'm with you. I'm excited about this guy. Especially being a 3-for-3. After his first visit it was apparent he wanted to be here.

New Lambert article up on Rivals

Quotes from Lambert only since I assume he said them and they can be repeated

quote:

It was just unbelievable. Coming here and being able to bond with the players on a first bases it felt like I was at home. I really loved it. Like I said family. They treat you like a family and the facilities are really nice. Just knowing my position and what I'm coming into that just shows me what kind of thing they having going on here at Auburn

quote:

It really helped Auburn. As far as knowing the coaches and getting to know the players because before I came here I didn't know anything about Auburn. It kind of showed me the tradition and things that they have

quote:

He loved it man," Lambert said. "I am really proud of him. Just playing with him this season it's going to be great. We have something special going on at GMC

quote:

I really love Coach Garner," said Lambert. "He treats me just like he had a son even though he has seven girls. That's really special to be a coach and treat your players like that

For a throwback reference, I heard his potential compares similarly with how I see Wayne Dickens which if true Dickens had one of the fastest 10 yard splits on the 2004 team included skill players.

*Edited out obsolete observations thanks E* I love 3 for 3 guys and tbh, it sounds like he needs it since he is only around 280. JUCO guys are hard to gauge since they don't have access to the high end nutrition and meal programs that D1 guys do.

GOod thing we have Russell and our new facility has stacks on stacks on stacks of protein shakes

With all these JUCO signees/commits the last two classes, 2014 could be special... Especially when u consider the large group of potential seniors in '14.

He looks in as good if not better shape than D-Lamb to me. D-Law on the right.

Yep. 25 of them right now and DQ will go pro so we are set to lose 26. That why I hope the staff undersigns by a few in this class.

Our offense should be firing on all cylinders. Outside of Prosch and potential breakout seasons, every single player on offense will be returning. Nothing like having 10/11 returning starters back

Defense will be interesting- DE if we don't pick up a JUCO will be a crapshoot since we plan on rotating DEs and outside of Lawson/Daniel/Gimel President we won't have a lot of depth (2 deep not including FR is gone at DE)

DBs- We will be missing Garrett and CHris Davis who project as serious contributors but we will have more talent to replace them than ever before.

2014 Projected Depth Chart

QB- Nick Marshall/Jeremy Johnson

RB- CAP/Peyton Barber/Tre Mason
Speed Back- Rudy Ford/Other

WR- Dhaquille Williams
WR- Sammie Coates
Slot- Ricardo Louis/QuanBray

TE/HB- CJ Uzomah/Ricky Parks

LT- Greg Robinson
LG- Diamond
C- Dismukes
RG- Kozan/Danzey
RT- Young/Miller

DE- Lawson/Daniel
DT-Blackson/Bradley
DT-Wright/Adams
DE- ?

LB- McKinzey
LB- Frost/Flowers

DBs- Hard to project who ends up where

I based that on old photos of him but he definitely looks like a hoss in that picture. Doesn't change that he needs to put on some weight but I take back what I said about "good weight"

I thought going into the 2012 season that in 2014 we could be dangerous. I am not as sure as I was but I still think on paper this team has a chance to be good. It's time we start seeing these highly rated guys make plays on the field

We could return all of our starters on offense but JP in 2014 and most of our defensive guys.

Must confess. I had to look Wayne Dickens up. I looked him up. I now have to ask. Who the frick is Wayne Dickens? He does not register. Like not at all.

But, okay. I'll take your word for it. He had the quicks, and if Devaroe is comparable, I'm all that more excited.

With regard to his size, if he runs as well as you think he does, look at what Ellis did with Melvin Ingram.

A little more obscure player that in order to know you had to follow Auburn closely around 2004. From people from that time period, they describe his popularity as similar to say Dee Ford. Extremely athletic lots of potential but other teams/people wouldn't know who he is. Did well enough at Auburn to make al iving in the league for awhile.
He started at DT for the 2004 team and played in the league for a number of years. Extremely athletic and well thought of player in 2004. Dickens told me one time that when they were running 40s in spring camp that he had the fastest 10 yard split on the team. <-- Why the SEC wins against other conferences

Look at Devaroe's highlight film though, the boy can run and has some inital burst. He explodes off the ball

Yeah, I know that now, and pulled up the page RMT just posted, but I just don't remember the man. Saw all the games. But don't remember him.
