Kamryn Pettaway (Prattville HS) decommitted from FSU today

Look for a commitment soon, he picked up an offer at Jr Day

Pettway openly said he committed to Florida State in hopes that it would pressure other schools to go ahead and offer.

If I wasn't on my phone I'd give the direct quote, but needless to say he didn't state it quite as articulately as I did.

ETA: "I just wanted to commit because they say it will help you get more offers...that's my first choice besides Florida State. It's between Auburn and Florida State."

Going to go ahead and call it, this kid is the next Ashton Richardson.

Quotes from Rashaan Evans

quote:

"I talked with Coach (Rhett) Lashlee and Coach (Ellis) Johnson. He gave me the defensive scheme and where they wanted me to play. I have a good grasp of if I were to come here, where I would want it to be.

"Coach Johnson is a wise man. Talking to him, he will teach me a lot of things. I'm real excited to meet him and talking to him gave me grasp of playing the position and how to play the position. I'm really starting to build a relationship with these coaches, especially Johnson."

quote:

"After talking to the coaches, Auburn is pretty high," said Evans.

He plans on taking trips to UCLA and CLemson then make a decision before senior season

Has anyone seen Stephen Roberts from Opelika play in person? His film looks damn good. His ability to read, and then jump a route full speed isn't something you often see in guys that are only juniors in high school. Seems to have a set of wheels and about average CB size as well.

He's sick

One if the main reasons they were able to beat Jeremy Johnson in the semifinals. I believe he had a pick in that game

As far as positional numbers go, in 2013 we'll have

QB:
0 seniors, 2 juniors, 1 sophomore, 1 freshman. Need: 1.

RB: 3 Jr, 2 FR. Need: 2.

HB/FB/TE: 1 SR, 1 Jr, 1 Soph, 1 FR. Need: 1-2.

WR: 4 JR, ungodly number of FR. Need:1-2.

OT: 3 Soph, 3 rFr. Need: 0-1.

OG: 1 Jr, 1 Soph, 2 Fr. Need: 0-1.

C: 2 Jr, 1 Fr. Need: 0-1.

O-line is pretty flexible, we need maybe 2 total though.

DE: 3 Sr, 3 Jr, 2 Soph, 3 F. Need: 1-2.

DT: 2 Sr, 3 Jr, 2 Fr. Need: 2-3.

LB: 1 Sr, 1 Jr, 3 So., 3 Fr Need: 1-2, max.

S: 2 S, 4 Jr, 2 Fr. Need: 2-3; May be biggest need position.

CB: 1 Sr, 2 Jr, 2 So, 2 Fr. Need: 1-2.

So, 1 QB, 2 RB, 1 TE, 1 WR, 2 OL, 2 DE, 2 DT, 2 LB, 3 S, 1 CB, + Hutch = 18 LOIs to fill our needs, at a bare minimum. Leaves us room to take a couple other players that aren't strictly needs but are good enough to take anyways - an extra LB comes to mind especially.

I know they're quotes from the player, but paraphrase them into your own words since those came straight from a premium article.

Sammie is a sophomore. Louis is a sophomore. Something has to be off with your numbers.

At receiver Reed, Bray and Denson are juniors and Coates and Louis are sophomores with the 4 coming in as freshmen.

With Payne coming in as a 22 year old Junior, I could see him declaring with a 1k year in the SEC. I think we will end up with 2 backs and a fullback/hback type back and I could easily see this more in the fashion of Eric Smith than a tight end style player.

Whoops.

Jr: Quan, Trovon, Denson

Soph: Sammie, Louis.

I had Sammie as Jr; forgot he redshirted. And forgot Louis existed.

That drops the need down even further.

I feel like Lawson has the ability to be the next Dwight Freeney.

I'm optimistic about this guy. I've tlked to a friend of his and he loves Auburn more and more every time he visits. I know that sounds a little Reubenish but this guy is nowhere near the dumbass Reuben is. I think Junior Day moved it to a 3 way tie, and we might even have a slight lead goin into his Georgia visit.

The last guy out of Oxford that was all AU at one point or another ended up at LSU

Until we manage to actually pull someone from there I'm taking the scepticism route

Yea, I'll believe when I see it. They either end up at Bama or go out of state.

Is this coaching staff even bothering with recruiting Scarborough or have they conceded him to Bama with Foster there? Not a knock, just curious.
