Anyone find it funny that Gus Malzahn was scheduled (and invited) to visit RaShaan Evans for his grandfather's birthday all of this time, and now Kirby Smart swoops in and decides he is going to do the same?
Kind of weird, IMO.

If Evans was a girl, Kirby would be performing what is known as a cock block.

I'm sure Smart won't be able to make it because of the roads being too dangerous and all

Yep. Kind of giving me a TJ feeling. I say we put ex-lax in Kirby's punch.

Is Kirby going to the party now?

fwiw, it's grandma's 90 birthday... there might already be ex-lax in the punch.

Desperation play by Bama, IMO.

I am actually starting to believe that rumor.
However, I am still not sold on that AL.com article. Justin Hoke's War Room at 12 PM stated that Kirby Smart was expected to visit RaShaan Evans today, and the article in question appeared very PRO-Alabama to start with. The writer also supposedly graduated from Alabama, so there's that too...

It's hard to know a timetable on these quotes from Alan Evans... just b/c the article came out an hour ago doesn't mean the quotes were today... and situations are obviously fluid.
and fwiw, why would smart want to go to the party at the same time as GM?... would probably take away from his last bit of one on one time... it doesn't make a lot of sense for them to be there together.
edit: quotes were obviously from today... he talks about the game last night and riding over to the arena with Gus... sounds like smart and GM are going to be there together.

The Kirby Smart inviting himself thing has been talked about for a week and a half on various message boards. It's why some said Bama screwed up recently. It may have been glossed over on some boards which is why that info may seem new to some readers.

This one is interesting
If he is making his decision on NSD and sends in his LOI, how would that affect his decision?
quote:
"Right now, the plan is to make the announcement of ESPN on Signing Day at the high school but the more we've thought about it, the more we think the pressure from being here in Auburn might be something we'd like to avoid. We haven't canceled that plan but it's on the table for discussion. If Rashaan ends up picking Alabama, it could obviously lead to some reactions from the folks from this part of the state and we don't want him to feel any anxiety about that, especially if it could affect his decision."

As if 18 min ago, AUC says Smart is coming tomorrow.

quote:You already referenced the AUR one from the War Room. Can't find the other one but I know I read quotes from Alan the past few days saying Kirby's was today. Before that AE did say a few weeks ago both Gus and Kirby would be at the party. Either the quote in the al.com article is yet another change or it is an old quote that Scalici did not update. Looks nearly identical from the one of 2 weeks ago.
