Because he's a beast and we have momentum enough to interest anybody in the country that we like.

Can anyone give a summary of Niebuhr's article on our D-line recruiting "getting interesting" the past 48 hrs.
It's not an actual article. It's a Defense Line megaboard chances

Recruiting flashback: Anybody think Trey Johnson regrets picking Ohio State after seeing how the AU team has fared this year?

Why?
Judging by their actions it looks like the staff wants at least 3 LBs. They just flopped SDH for waffling remember.

I would think they would try to focus on kwon and rashaan instead of adding somebody completely new to the scene.

I don't think we have a realistic shot at Kwon. Plus its good to have a backup or two. You don't have to take their commitment and it might pressure a commit from the others if they think we will take someone else if they wait around.

We are recruiting Evans at Star not LB.

I doubt it because he seemed to always like it up there and they are playing good football and will stay national contenders as long as they have a fairly easy schedule.

The one I was thinking about was Jaquay Williams. He ended up at A&M over us and don't blame him at the time. But their offense is about to take a hit while ours will improve greatly and receiver is a position of need.

My brother and I had this conversation a couple nights ago. Given our WR situation this year and how poorly A&M did, you have to think he is second guessing his decision.

Roof tried to bring him to PSU but that was a hard sell (obviously), especially since they weren't really in it for him before sanctions

I tweeted Jaquay before the A&M game and he said they were "gonna hang a hunny on AU". I tweeted him after and all he could come up with was how good his WR coach was.

No need to hold it against him. He thought he made the best decision for him, which he might have. Wish him the best...except against us

He is a good kid and considering our situation at the time, I wouldn't have come to Auburn either. Wish he just was qualified originally and we wouldn' t be in this situation

ESPN has just rated the JUCOs (at least the top 50)

Analysis from ESPN

DQ

quote:

STRENGTHS: Athleticism and measurables are off the charts. Has a wide wingspan and possesses acrobatic playmaking ability. Long and flexible and able to adjust to poorly thrown balls. Is a mismatch on the jump ball. Excels in contested match-ups with terrific sideline awareness and body control in a crowd. Plays as if no throw is out of reach. Works to get open, uses his frame to create separation and create a wide catch radius. Has long field speed. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Very, very limited route tree. Is a run and catch guy. Needs to polish and instruction on breaking routes. Only knows the vertical passing game. Will gear down at times into breaks. Doesn%u2019t always win vs. press like you would expect, but is strong and fights to get downfield. Limited views after the catch. ... BOTTOM LINE: Williams is a playmaker, but also raw and isn't asked to do much in this scheme aside from just getting vertical. He has terrific tools and phenomenal ball skills/body control to consistently make plays even when covered. Possesses premier, immediate impact ability, but still must learn little nuances of the position.

Dalvon Stuckey

quote:

STRENGTHS: Can be tough to move off the ball with one blocker when he fires out low which he demonstrates he can do. Flashes good ability to redirect and with adequate range for size and looks to give good effort to stay after the play. Displays a good initial burst and can quickly get up-field and disrupt at times. Flashes an effective bull rush with ability to get under a blockers pads and press the pocket. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Needs to continue to improve hand usage. Can show flashes of being active with his weapons as pass rusher, but needs to continue to refine pass rush arsenal as can have wasted motion when doesn't win with initial move. ... BOTTOM LINE: Stuckey was a good prospect coming out of high school and remains a good prospect now as he has improved some. Can be a tough, active and disruptive player. Has room for improvement, but displays ability to come in and contribute well and be a factor for an FBS D-Line.

Moncreif

quote:

STRENGTHS: Scheme versatile back-seven defender with linebacker size and safety range. At his best playing downhill and breaking on the ball in zone coverages but shows he can turn and run with slots/TE's. Shows good closing ability and is a strong tackler who has a nose for the ball in the box. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Good coverage range but does show some tightness when opening his hips in man-to-man or defending in space. 'Tweener in that we do not see the speed to lock down slots at the BCS level or the strength/physicality to step in as a stout downhill LB. ... BOTTOM LINE: Moncrief is an active defender who has size, athleticism and can run. Will most likely be recruited to play OLB at the college level. Success and early playing time may be dictated by finding the right scheme that will utilize his hybrid skill-set.
