That's the thing, it could be just two [hats on NSD]. I'm really kind of excited to see what happens after that visit (UCLA)

Well that's confusing.

He is saying he is close to a decision and has gathered all the information he needs except for UCLA. Depending on how the UCLA visit goes, he may eliminate a school.

My general vibe.

I feel like RaShaan Evans is closer to the Auburn recruits than the Alabama recruits. Not by any considerable gap, but I feel that he is more familiar and trusts our recruits more. I think he feels like they really care about him, not only on the football field, but in life (you can tell by his comments). I also feel like RaShaan Evans may view the position Alabama is selling as a better option. However, I feel like the gap between the STAR and SAM positions, in his mind, is insignificant.

Pretty sure after his UCLA visit, he's gonna have to eliminate two schools.

Remaining Alan Evans quotes per AUR LINK
quote:

We know what Rashaan means to this coaching staff. They made that very clear this weekend. It was a special visit. We had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Gus Malzahn. We just had a wonderful time. We went to his house and got to build that relationship even more. It gave us a really good chance to get to know Ellis Johnson and the rest of the staff a lot better. We got a better view of what this university means and what this athletic football program is trying to do. It's going to be a very tough decision on Rashaan.

All three of the schools are great academic institutions, they all have great facilities and coaches. I just tell him that he needs to pick the place that will make him the happiest and where he can feel like he can be successful. I tell him to go with where he wants to go. Not where the people want him to go.

I think a lot of it is going to come down to the position that each school wants him to play. The "star" position or the outside linebacker position. UCLA and Alabama want him as an outside LB and Auburn wants him at the "star" position which is more of a strong safety-type position. That's what we have been debating about and that's what we will continue to debate about. Which defense will he be the most successful at long-term.

It's funny Alan Evans says it will come down to the position because his son has said the position isn't that important

This much I can promise you. If Rashaan chooses AU his Star position will be quite a bit different than Therezie's Star. It will be more of an OLB Star than the Safety Star Therezie is asked to play.

So if they're thinking the star is more safety oriented opposed to more OLB oriented, I don't like the sound of that last part. He'll project as an OLB in the NFL. Hopefully the staff is clearing up any confusion.

They said Ellis Johnson laid out the whole plan for where De'Shaun, Tre, and Evans would line up and what they would do with them on the OV.

Rashaan also mentioned that EJ discussed with him the differences between how Therezie played star and how he would play star due to his skillset

Our coaches ain't dummies. They will maximize his skill set, no doubt about it. Hell EJ was a wizard this year masking all the weaknesses we had on defense. He really did a great job of getting players in position to make plays while compensating and covering up our weaknesses as much as possible.

OU Mods say Steven Parker still set to visit AU this weekend.

He hasn't done much with A&M in awhile. OU is heavy favorite and he OVd there this weekend so we'll see. OU fans seem to think they have a 75% chance (not sure why not more). Has size/speed/talent. Maybe we wow him and sneak in there. Wouldn't be the first time we've done that.

So in conclusion, if I were to tap TheRig on his shoulder, I can then point to him and say, "I tapped that a$$"!

Oh J Lee, good times

Interesting note: People in that state don't know wtf is going on in recruiting very well. One source said he visited OkState this weekend. Rivals said he didn't make it. Another said he was visiting OU this weekend. Another said:

"Ironically, the class could very well come down to what two highly coveted in-state recruits do. Jenks defensive back Steven Parker made an official visit to Auburn this weekend. It is believed that OU and Texas A&M are the final two vying for his letter of intent."

FWIW Gus is the one that has been talking to him for awhile now and helped setup the visit. His dad played ball at OklaState and he seems to still be open to options. Also, if we landed him it would seemingly piss off the Aggies more than the Sooners as I have seen multiple articles saying Parker is a must-get.

EDIT: and this dude doesn't seriously tweet the coaches? Kidding me?

EagleDamnWar ?@EagleDamnWar 2h
5* OT Damian Prince not visiting Penn State per Rivals. Still has open OV date. @CoachDCraig @CoachGusMalzahn @rhettlashlee @CoachJBGrimes

Seems like whoever Evans talks to last is his new favorite. This aspect of Evan's recruitment reminds me of Foster. I hope the result is different.

I see Evans having 3 changes in who his leader is between now and signing day.
