Sounds like he's still waiting for a committable offer from AU to me.

Gaffney (S.C.) four-star receiver and South Carolina commit Shaq Davidson will officially visit Auburn this weekend, according to Davidson.
And I guess that could be why (IMO) JoJo doesn't have a committable offer.

If my school I'm committed to told me to have a backup plan I would no longer be committed to that school by the end of the meeting.

I wouldn't blame him at all if he went to UCLA.
If he doesn't pick AU (and he should dammit), then I hope he goes West Coast.

FSU is basically telling Jojo to look around. It's already been said many times. Jojo has said they haven't called him in a long time. He stays committed because they will probably honor the scholly if he doesn't decommit, so it leaves FSU open as an option for him just in case.

I want Evans, but with or without him, this will be a great class.
With the new staff, I am cautiously optimistic.

I am hoping he cancels his UCLA visit but if he goes then maybe it will be enough to knock Bama back to 3rd and then maybe the distance will become too much to ignore. Between Auburn this week and them next the Bama visit will be a distant memory. Then if he has to make a quick decision and is torn between them, it will leave Auburn as the safest bet.

Guys, he's just taking the UCLA visit to keep Bama out of his ear that weekend.

What I was told could obviously be wrong, but supposedly Bama isn't really in contention as much as they were pre-visit. Not sure why?
I'm kinda skeered about UCLA too, but hopefully the distance and relationships with the AU commits will keep him home.

Is Evans a NSD commit? Has he stated his announcement plans?

on TV he stated that he could do it right after his Auburn visit if he's ready, but could wait until NSD too.

I think he goes and has a great time. Some other high profile recruits will be there as well. I think after he visits AU this weekend and compares it to UCLA the next, he'll see that yeah sure UCLA is great but it is far from home and at AU he's got great friends in this class.
I am stating the obvious but the thing I think that it's coming down to between all three schools is position and utilization to get him to the NFL. He basically has to decide between:
UCLA - Jeff Ulbrich (new DC) was an NFL LB and coached the LBs last year. They run a base 3-4 but their OLB plays in space near the line and with Mora they either go massive blitz on 3rd down or drop everyone back with only 2 down lineman. Evans has a simliar height/weight as Barr did in 2012. Based on 2013 believe it or not they would probably drop him back into coverage more than blitz him (their specialty) against the pass-friendly Pac-12 as many of the good teams in that conference have adjusted for the blitzing OLB.
Bama - Similiar to UCLA but they don't drop the LBs as far back into coverage on passing downs with the secondary players they have, allowing the LBs to cover the short passing game or send the QB running out of the pocket. Contrary to popular opinion more NFL teams are running less base 3-4.
AU - We all know the 4-2-5. Evans will develop into a much larger player than Therezie or Garrett. He could play WLB but Johnson wants a bigger star moving around than what we've got. There is even more flexibility than running the 3-4 because he isn't constrained to an over/under to a given side. Pre-snap he can move around to the twin/trips-set side, the RB side, wherever. As has been stated much in this thread, many Star position players Johnson has coached moved on to the NFL.
JMO but he would more than shine in our defense over the other two in both run support and pass defense since we are upgrading our secondary and safety position.
