Anyone care to do a short update on where we stand right now with our top remaining targets for those of us that follow recruiting but not as closely until now?

Like who are our top remaining targets, where do we think we stand, are they uncommitted or who they are currently committed to?

Like maybe our top 5 guys? How many open spots do we have left if we get who we want? Around 5 maybe?

TIA if anyone wants to update. The thread on the first page has the basic info but from several weeks ago as far as our top uncommitted guys and I see we have been getting interest from some new highly rated prospects as well.

Most of the interest in new guys is for the 2015 class.

As of right now, my understanding is that the only three guys with commitable offers at this point are Rashaan Evans, Andrew Williams, and Braden Smith, and we'll in good shape with all three.

I don't think there's much of a consensus right now as to when Rashaan is visiting here or Georgia, but he'll OV Alabama on the 17th. If memory serves, the latest news was that he'd OV us on the 24th. Doesn't sound like he'll be committing anywhere other than Auburn when it's all said and done.

Williams is going to OV on the 17th for the players banquet. He's been thought to be a heavy Auburn lean for a while, but he'll be visiting Ole Miss on the 24th.

Braden Smith is the Johnny-come-lately of the class, showing interest since the SECCG. He's set to OV us on the 20th. That's going to be the key in his recruitment, because he's never been here before and it's in the middle of a stretch of 4 OVS. ND on the 17th, us on the 20th, A&M on the 24th, and TCU on the 31st. His willingness to schedule a mid-week visit because his other Saturdays were full says a lot to his interest in us, in my opinion. Still, we came in so late that it's going to be an uphill battle with TCU and Notre Dame.

I think that's everything. Someone lemme know if I'm off-base with any of that.

EDIT: About the time I hit submit I remembered about Treon Harris. 4* Dual Thread QB committed to Florida State, Dameyune Craig seems to be doing work on him. He should visit us sometime soon, and as of right now we're recruiting him as an athlete, though he'll get a shot at QB. Obvious longshot here.

Braden Smith has cancelled his OV to ND on the 17th and he will now take his OV to us on that weekend instead.

I don't know what I was thinking. We have no shot with any 5* DT's. Tigger is right, we have no shot at anybody unless bammers decide to take pity on us. GTFO of here with that BS!

Also 5* SDE CeCe Jefferson will be visiting this summer. Longtime Gator lean but now looking around. Garner & Craig doing work in Jacksonville!

Daron Payne is the prototypical nose guard that Bama needs to have a dominant defense. They will do whatever it takes to get that guy. If we are able to get him over bama then this staff will have done an A++ job and I will never doubt them again.

Our staff is gonna find top notch players so even if we don't get him it should be another great class.

I was just messing with you Tigg. I hear that we have pulled even though with Payne. Thompson is a UGA lean but likes us and Mama loves Garner. I think we end up with one of those two. Also the SC kid and J. Johnson give AU four nice prospects to watch already.

Also, I believe we end up offering Kemp this year. The way he played WR in the AL/MS game gives him more value IMO, than just depth at Safety.

Kemp is definitely worth a shot. If he ends up being as much of a contrivutor as either of the Ryan's I will be happy. Depth in the secondary is what we missed most this year.

If we pull one of Thompson or Payne or D-line will be epic for the next couple of years.

Isn't Daron Payne Dee Liner's half-brother or something like that?

Todd Grantham (UGA's DC) is heading to Louisville. I wonder if that will help us with any 2014 recruits

To add to Sandman and Metafour, we have 10 spot left but will not use them all.

I get the feeling UGA (at least their fans) wants to switch back to the 4-3. I doubt Smart would make a lateral move anyway. Who knows though...I'm hoping for Monte

I don't want Smart at UGA. He could make a difference there and I won't stand for it. Mediocrity in Athens is very comfortable for me.

Not exactly a lateral move when it's your Alma mater and they are offering HCIW. UGA fans are all for it.

Anything that weakens bama I'm down for, and smart leaving combined with the rest if their staff turnover this offseason would definitely do just that. They're in the west after all.

With that said, he's not leaving Tuscaloosa.

I don't think Smart leaving would significantly hurt Alabama. The move would strengthen UGA which isn't a good thing for us. Smart just needs to go take a HC job somewhere and be done with it.

Anyway, UGA is after Evans so this can't help their effort.
