Right, Freeze loves Ashford - he's just trying to get some more competition for him

Would you rather he keep TJ and trot him on the field, if Ashford got hurt? We all knew he was getting a portal QB regardless of how well they did or didn’t do this spring.

You are fabricating that Ashford had an awful spring. You are fabricating the charity gift.

Well he certainly didn't have a "good spring", now did he? I never said awful. I said that we just finished spring and not one guy currently here impressed enough to put this to bed.

Freeze's comments speak for themself. Why not listen to your actual HC? I'm sorry that he didn't say what you wanted to hear. He basically laid it out for you that nobody impressed. If nobody impressed, then he's looking for a starter lol.

How am I fabricating the "charity gift"? It's literally what happened. Were we not surprised that we ultimately didn't take a QB given that neither Ashford nor Finley were any good last season?

Of course, we actually do know that Freeze wanted McCall and we were outbid for Leary. So he's not stupid.

It was an absolute GIFT to Ashford that Freeze couldn't get who he wanted, so Ashford got another crack at showing to be the boss. That's called a gift. And he failed to show enough, period. Now you're over here trying to convince yourself that actually Freeze is combing the Portal for more backups lmao.

And you’re getting bent out of shape because I think the best man will win. Does Ashford not have a say in the fall?

I also think the best man will win. I actually never said that Ashford "doesn't have a say". I just don't think he's good enough, and now Freeze and Montgomery have seemingly confirmed that. They are literally searching the Portal for a starter.

By the way, some of you are in for a rude awakening if you think that this current staff's definition of acceptable QB play is a guy who once every 5-6 snaps is going to run around and turn a broken play into some rushing yards lol.

Not really. No. At this point I will be surprised if Ashford isnt the day one starter, and if he isnt then that means he was beat out and that is fine and dandy, too. I am about as neutral as they come on who I think should be QB next year so the whole "Ashford camp" is really no such thing.

He might want them, but I doubt he was overly concerned either way. I mean McCall is like a fifth year senior. His services would be great but are our services going to be beneficial to him, doubt it, so dont know why he would entertain coming for our rebuild.

Ashford can get better. How much better I have no clue. I would not just wash that possibility away. So this MJ Morris kid threw 60% at NC State. How much better would he have been here? I am not entirely blown away by his stats or any of that. NC State also just added Brennan Armstrong from the portal, so I wonder why they even picked him up this January. They were trying to replace MJ by your own logic.

I dont see any proof that MJ is being asked to come into start. Compete, yes.

I never suggested MJ is being asked to transfer to be our backup. Dont put words in my mouth. MJ would be coming in to compete, and whoever wins, wins.

I learned my lesson from the Nix thing about just how bad the supporting cast made the offense look. Others on here have not. If the new Oline is serviceable and we get some more WR help, Ashford will do quite well.

Auburn wins via QB competition period

Ashford should have the inside track because he never folded as a QB playing for a shitty OL, and the shitty coach while throwing to weak WRs. He earned that. I didn't care for his diva behavior sometimes, but he didn't play like a diva and that matters more to me. He still has to perform though.

We only win with more competition. The loser can sulk and transfer and do as the have-nots usually do, but the winner will be tested, weighed, and judged to be the superior QB for the starting job. May the best manchild, future savior win.

We all know we were going to the portal. I said if its a one and out the coach probably thinks one of the two (assuming TJ grads and leaves) can get a year and be ready to play when the portal guy leaves.
If he goes out and gets a portal player with years left to play, he has probably decided what is on campus currently isnt the short nor longer term answer.

Morris will be a sophomore in the fall so I guess we have our answer.

Morris (with a backup), Hank, and White. Just like that he will layer the QB room in four months what we have not been able to figure out for years.

However, Nix went and started on the team where Ashford rode the bench. We swapped a starter for a reserve player with Oregon.

Morris and Ashford our best options? No other interest out their? I don’t even consider Ashford a an tbh. Like someone else said this is his 4th year and still looks 3rd string. He reminds me of when a team does a toss sweep to the rb and they pull up to throw a flea flicker into double coverage. His legs will win us some games but his 40% completion percentage will lose us games
