Completely agree! This is how a team is built.

Bryce needs to make more threes though. Right now, I'd rather him be luke warm than hot or cold from 3.

Frazier. Little shite kept them in it.

Glad we were hitting our FTs though.

Actually he needs to start hitting some 2's. His 3 point % is higher than his 2 point %. Was 0-6 from 2 points tonight.

We're either shooting threes or taking it to the rim. We need someone to be able to hit a pull up jumper from 10-12 ft. Frazier kept them in it with that shot. We need Bryce to learn to hit it. He's not a good finisher at all. That little midrange shot would open up his game so much.

No we don't. That is the lowest expected value shot in basketball

If you can drive, pass and shoot 3s effectively, there will always be an open man and you will only shoot high expected PT value shots

I disagree. To have someone that has that ability opens up so many things. Would've definitely been useful against Ole Miss when they were guarding the perimeter so well. If Bowers had that, he'd be unstoppable.

If you can drive the 3pt shot/inside passes opens up. If you shoot 3s they leave the paint to defend the 3

There is a reason the 12 foot shot is always open. It is a difficult shot with a low payoff

Bowers shooting layups is a difficult shot with a low payoff. I'm not saying live off of ten footers all game. I'm saying its a useful skill that we have zero of right now. You can't convince me that it's completely worthless. I've seen too many guys make a living off of it.

Yeah the game is moving completely away from the mid-range jumper.. especially when the 3pt arc is close to a mid-range jumper like it is in the college game.

Only way college brings back the mid-range game is if they extended the 3 point line to the NBA's line. Which I don't believe they should.

Bryce tried to drive several times tonight and got it put back in his face. He makes a higher percentage of those shots if he pulls up from ten feet or has the ability to do that.

Agree with Bryce. Adding a pull up jumper would do a lot to elevate his game. He also needs to learn to jump off of one foot when he is taking the ball to the basket. It takes to long for him to gather himself and jump off 2 feet and it gives the rotating bigs enough time to get to him and challenge his shot.

IMO the teams looks COMPLETELY different when we have Spencer down low with Dunans, Lang, Williams and Granger at G/F. That is by far our most athletic group. No PG, obviously, but without a doubt our best opportunity for offensive success. Obviously you can put Brown in that group as well, but I really like what New Williams does when he's given time. I think Bruce could have a few more Ws on the sheet if New had been given more time instead of a walk on PG.

Some people act like Bryce shouldn't add a 12 foot jumper to his arsenal just because the college game is moving away from it.
A good mid range jump shot would put more pressure on the defender because there would be another facet of the game that the defender has to worry about. Not to mention that against the zone, the middle is always open for mid range jump shot from the blocks.

Why throw New Williams to the fire with lots of minutes when 1) his knee isn't healthy and 2) we suck

Is there a place I can find normal fricking highlights of a game other than AU's youtube site with the shitty arse under the goal camera?

I literally have no idea where to go (ESPN, FOX Sports etc) to find 3 minute highlights anymore.

Clearly you didn't watch the first few games that New Williams played in. He clearly looked unsure on his knee and lost responsibility wise. Took him awhile to look good out there. Not surprising given that he probalby hasn't had quality practice with his knee.

I would rather play 4 players than have Patrick Keim in the game

If Bowers can't make a layup or a FT, I don't have much faith in him being even a 25% shooter from 10-12ft

It is useful but should be down on the list of what to practice.

As Rig pointed out, you might as well take a small step backwards and hit a 3pt shot.

What a win! Amazed what Bruce has been able to do with a completely decimated roster. I cant wait for next year.

It's something that would be useful for someone like Bryce that can't finish at all. He can get by his defender and be able avoid having to go at the other team's bigs. I'd rather him be able to do that than getting his layup attempt shoved back in his face.

It's also a nice little zone buster when you can slide a guy right around the free throw line for an open shot.
