Purchase played a stretch 4/post and when he got pushed out, he was expected to never see the court. We had 8 guys who could fill SF/PF/C and a solid 3 deep for all positions
SF- TJ Lang//Purifoy/Granger/Dunas
PF- Harris/Granger/Spencer
C- Bowers/Trayvon Reed/ Spencer
After Purchase transferred
-Bowers drank even more of his own koolaid
-Reed didn't enroll in the fall
-Purifoy ineligible (at time we expected him to qualify)
-Lang injured
-Dunans injured

That is before you even consider that 6/12 scholarship players have missed MULTIPLE GAMES this year.

I would say Martin was on the same level as Bruce. His KState teams were legit.

This is an excuse used often by bad teams. In college basketball 1 kid can come in and change the outlook of a team. Freshman classes can take a bad team to a tournament team. It happens every year. As far as "system" goes you can install a new offense in a 1 week in basketball.
Our problem is we just aren't very good team wise.
If you look at what makes a good basketball team we don't check any of the boxes
Rebounding - nope
Defense - nope
Inside Game - nope
If you're going to suck at one or at 3 of those things then you better be great in other areas. We aren't great at anything. We were good at shooting the 3 until the last few games.
Just a bad team all around. Hard to watch at time the level of dysfunction out there

I'd love to hear about all these bad teams was able to recruit a great freshman class and lead them to the NCAA tournament.
There are no teams as historically bad as Auburn that were able to recruit at that high of a level and put together a team to make the tournament.

If Johnny Jones wasn't a bad coach, LSU would make the tournament even without Ben Simmons. Jones is so bad they may not make it with him
ETA**: Jones lost to Auburn twice last year despite having TWO All SEC post players going up against backup PG Malcolm Canada in the post

2) To think that even with Kentucky level recruiting, that the culture would change in less than two years, is the epitome of the word.

That's the thing, there is no player in college basketball right now that is so good as to be surrounded by scrubs and make the tournament from a major conference.
Even if we had Ben Simmons, Buddy Hield or Denzel Valentine, we wouldn't be a surefire tournament team given our injuries/post issues

There is not a single person on this board who thought when Pearl was hired we would be just as terrible two years in as we ever were under our two previous coaches that we all couldn't stand.
I know you guys aren't that dumb, so it's obviously just denial. It's ok to give an honest assessment of where we stand. We suck. Bad. As bad as ever.
Can Bruce turn it around? Maybe, probably, hopefully but he has not earned his money or hype so far without question. It's not arguable or deniable and no amount of childish insults directed at me will change it.

Well, unlike you, we can look at more than just wins/losses to gauge where our program is right now. Ultimately, that will determine everything, but this wasn't a two year rebuild and definitely not a two year rebuild given our injury situation. I'd be more in agreement if we were performing terrible with our full roster, but we don't have that right now. I'm sorry you're having a problem seeing the big picture.
