Both Canty and Brown look like they have the ability to drive to the rim. I don't understand why they don't take that opportunity more often.

At least Canty has started in the second half getting to the hoop

Canty did a lot better at driving last night instead of just launching a barrage of threes. But we need someone to knock down shots when he dishes it back out. Brown is either on fire or ice cold.

The problem was they were driving into Luke Kornet. With Luke's aggressiveness for blocking shots, Bowers (or whoever Kornet was guarding) should have stepped just outside of the lane for an easy dish to a dunk/layup.

I'm still convinced that if we shot more consistently from 3PT outside Canty, a lot of why missing Dunans would disappear.

When Dunans drove, we would have two somewhat reliable 3PT shooters in Canty + Brown/Lang/Granger. Finding the open 3 is a lot easier and that prevents the defense from collapsing into the paint

When Canty drives, our best 3PT option no longer has to be accounted for and our 2&3 options are unreliable at best. The risk of leaving them open is pretty minimal and defending the drive + post pass is a priority

Yep, I agree with that. That's why I thought when Dunans went down we were screwed.

To add to your post, I don't like Canty having to be the guy that's driving all the time because I thought Dunans did it better and I like having Canty open on the three point line. It sucks that Bowers isn't even a little competent when he drives because he really is good at getting there.

For a guy who is 6'6 250lb and poses no 3pt threat to consistently penetrate and get solid opportunities is insane.
If Bowers had Grangers 3pt/FT shooting and even an avg layup %, he would be one of the best players in the conference.

Just crazy that it isn't asking for much yet is a ridiculous gap in performance

As much as we shite on Bowers, he's been better on defense. He defends post adequately , gets quite a few steals and started to be more aggressive on defensive rebounding.

If only he didn't turn over the positive plays he makes

You just wonder what this team would look like with TSD, Dunans and Purifoy all on the floor consistently or in Purifoy's case at all. I think the fact that we are down scorers has really hurt Canty's game. He is trying to do it all because honestly we only seem to win when he is able to do it all.

As for Bowers he is who he is. A guy that plays super hard and sometimes gets out of control. He has seemed more focus coming off the bench and with all the injuries we have along with Harris & Spencer constantly being in foul trouble we have to play him a bunch. It's strange because I love and hate him at the same time. He tries SO hard but messes the easy stuff up too much. Then will randomly turn around and make some legit superstar play

Watched MSU play Kentucky to the wire in Lexington last night with a first year head coach.

They played disciplined. They didn't turn the ball over. They had an actual offense.

Why can't we have this in Pearl's second year?

How do y'all think this Auburn team will play against Kentucky?

We looked good offensively until the injuries. I'd like to be able to say that's no excuse, but it's just a fact. We aren't deep enough or talented enough to overcome that.

In basketball it's really difficult to just watch one game from a team and say that's their identity. State has a great coach in Ben Howland but remember they aren't injury ridden, played a lighter nonconference schedule, and are sitting in exactly the same spot we are at 7-8 overall. They've played one less conference game as well and they're 0-for in that category.

As far as how we'll play against Kentucky.. They're going to scorch us by 30 in all likelihood.

State also starts 3 SRs, a JR and a 5* top5 FR.
4 of those guys have played a years together in the SEC.

Auburn's starting 5 never played a game together before this year. Of our 7 rotational guys now, 3 are FR, 2 are new to the team and Bowers is a dumbass

So I saw AU in person Tuesday night and the team is lacking leadership. The guys were going through the motions. Lang and Horace have to learn to defend without fouling. Also, as excited as I am about Horace's future, his offensive game is 10 x's worse than Bowers'.

Without Dunans, this team isn't really different than last year's. Dunans is the only player that can create of of the dribble and finish. We need that ability to break down defenses. Canty, like TSD, can create of the dribble but can't finish inside die to his size.

This year feels like another wash, which sucks. I'm excited about next season, but I wanted more out of this season. Maybe they find an answer or two when Dunans returns.

We have a top 20 player coming in next season. Another one coming in the year after. The teams we are losing to in out of conference are actually legit bball programs since we play tough schedules now. Believe it or not there has been a talent increase in the program as well with young guys like Horace Spencer, Bryce Brown and TJ Lang all young guys you can build system around.

So ya a lot has changed if you actually followed the team

And unfortunately we're playing in a conference that has begun to take basketball seriously again
