With the talent discrepancy in softball we should never lose to Jax State in a game that matters.

There was nothing that hinted at the regression of this program when Myers left yet here we are not even a year later. Wasted a year of two of the best pitchers this program has ever seen and probably ever will see

Coach Dean didn’t impress many with this initial season. If next season isn’t an improvement his time in Auburn might be a short one.

You can’t have two great pitchers and routinely fail to put up two runs to get them some support. Two great pitchers should get you to the super regional round.

He needs to hire a new hitting coach.

We actually had a higher batting average this year than last, where we struggled was 40 fewer runs in 3 fewer games.

That's the problem. Beating the shite out of the Sisters of the Poor looks good for the stat line............but producing runs against quality teams was few and far between.

If anyone cares, the Auburn softball team finished ranked #17 in the country with a record of 41-17

Doesn't sound awful until you realize that makes us the #9 team in the SEC by ranking. Consistent with our placement in the league during the regular season and our performance in postseason

Next season must be better.

I hope, but right now i see a continuing decline in wins next year.

Why? b/c unless the below happens our pitching will not be as strong and win us games like this year:

1. Current hitters improve their ability to make contact and improve their RISP avg plus
2. There is an infusion of better hitters either from those that didn't play this year or in recruiting

Sometimes, no doubt. But just being real. Compared to previous seasons and expectations, it was a failure.

And if you really knew me, you would not say that mean thing. I am a very positive guy and am well known for me cheery manner, my positive outlook and my extremely good looks

What exactly were the expectations after everything that happened with the Myers at the end of last season?

I'd say they did great considering all the distractions. I doubt anybody was expecting a championship this year..

And I would totally reciprocate but that'll just start a whole weird thing where we both feel obligated to upvote every post the other makes in this little exchange, and nobody really wants that
