I do not remember the origins, but I do know the Seminole Tribe signed off on Florida State using the Seminoles as their team name, mascot, etc.
The Braves adopted it from Florida State anyway. Personally, the "loss" of a team chant/cheer is not that big of a deal to me. It is not like I would support a team any differently.

What’s ridiculous about this situation is that it wasn’t a group. This is one damn individual that said he didn’t want them to stop, he just felt like it misrepresented.

I don’t think so. I think the front office WILL NOT give in. It’s their brand not outsiders. They’ll give them the middle finger by not responding and ignoring any incoming calls, emails, etc. This was an issue when John Rocker was here and during this someone said the tomahawk chop needs to go. That was 1999!

Yeah. There's no way they could get rid of the Tomahawk. The entire marketing strategy of the franchise is built around it.

They caved for that one guy but would assume their strategy is just to ignore the topic in the offseason and continue on next year with the chop and tomahawk.
