Holy hell the traffic. Worst ever. Granted it was a holiday weekend and there was tons of shite going on, but this is a good part of the reason I left the area.
When I lived downtown it wasn't terrible. Walk to Marta for games, etc.
But if you're out in Cobb or Cherokee. frick man. 1 hour to anywhere.
Kids enjoyed six flags.
Thanks for reading this bad post.

I always think, “wow, no way could this traffic get worse”
And every year I’m proven wrong.
I’d rather suck start a shotgun than put up with the impending lane closures coming to the northside of 285 soon.

The shift of a lot of employers to telework/WFH has not been reflected in the traffic.
Or maybe it has but people moving to the area offset the WFH reduction in traffic. I-75 hasn't been too bad in the mornings but is a fricking parking lot in the evenings.

I miss the sweet, sweet feeling of traffic from April '20 to Fall '20. Like butter on the roadways.
I'm convinced the Pandemic fricked up traffic by allowing people to somehow become even dumber behind the wheel. All anecdotal, but it seems to me like more people are on the roads around afternoon rush hour that aren't coming from work. Just out there clogging the roads because they can't wait 1-2 hours for rush hour to chill so they can get their shitty night plans in.

Traffic is definitely lighter since COVID
Coke, HD, Norfolk Southern, ICE and Invesco all
WFH.

It’s about to become a shitshow of epic proportions when 2 lanes of 285 shut down for a very long time.
I can’t figure out why people keep moving here.

It'll suck in the interim but the payoff will be worth it once they put the Peach Pass lanes on 400 and the top-end perimeter.

One of the reasons i never go South of The Battery.
We are driving down to Orlando on Friday for Cobbs Fall break and im already dreading having to get through Atl on Friday early afternoon.

It’s the city center. 30 min north or south and it’s a different place.

Those lanes won't even start construction for a few years (the closures are for 285/400 interchange which will be finished almost two years behind the original schedule), and it's dubious that they'll even be worth the cost.

God yes. I have to travel to and work on the roadways quite often in Atlanta due to my job and it drives this country boy nuts. I'm so close to the traffic sometimes the trucks blow the hat off my head when they go by. I have about a year and a half to retiring from this job and I'm counting every second.
I honestly don't see how the people who live there and have to drive in it every day can stand it. All it takes is an accident on one of the interstates and you can literally lose hours. Definitely not for me

The Peach Pass lanes will be well worth the wait.
I have one and use them. Trust me, they are a lifesaver on Friday afternoons when I have a football game.on the Northside and I'm coming from McDonough.

Grew up there, and have to travel through fairly often.
I loathe the city's traffic, and the majority of its infrastructure. I know there are plenty of nice places to live. But I have no desire to ever move "home."

There is bad traffic in every big city. It’s really not much worse than anywhere else.
“No desire to move home” because of traffic.
The one valid gripe in this thread is the lane closures at 285/400. But that interchange was designed for like 50 cars and needed/needs to happen. It’s gonna be so much better when complete.

City/County/State missed the boat years ago by not creating an outer loop. It would be nearly impossible now.
Best they could do now would to create some bypasses for trucks

Even 25 years ago, it was nearly impossible (especially once the politicians were trying to get GDOT to add a ton of exits in order to spur development on land owned by many of them).

Right. It needed to happen before then.
Short sighted bastards.

Best part of living in Floyd County? Knowing how to avoid I-75 to get to Florida.
I go straight down 27 through LaGrange to Columbus and across Corridor Z to Tifton to pick up 75 about 60 miles north of the Florida line. Saves me at least an hour.
