Is this the year we see a real decline for Brees?

Media seem to have picked him and the Saints as a team that will take a step back.
They have too much talent not to win at least half of their games. But top seed and NFC favorite seems unlikely.
Could this be it for Brees?
I'm not sold that he can't have one more solid year, but I'm praying these gasbags are right.

As much as I hate the New Orleans Saints, and most of all, their uneducated, economically parasitical fanbase -- I respect and admire Drew Brees.
With the way NFL rules are designed to protect the quarterback, combined with his remarkable work ethic, I don't believe we will see a slow down this year. He's got a great offensive line, the top safety valve in the NFL behind him, and even though he's not in the same air as Julio (Despite what the swamp people delusions portray), Michael Thomas is a top-10 weapon. He's got every reason to be really good this year.
The one thing I will say about Brees, is that whenever he does decline, it will be extremely quick. Similar to other incredible, but undersized athletes, whenever they fall off athletically, their problems in production get exacerbated 2 fold. Guys that come to mind immediately are Steve Smith and Derrick Brooks. Unbelievable players, high football IQ... but slid off a cliff when their time finally came.
The reason guys like Manning and Brady are able to prolong their careers, is because they can suffer slight declines based on their God-given physical assets, and not lose too much productivity.
Due to his height, Brees must maintain peak agility and arm strength - which, I don't think has deteriorated in the slightest the past couple years.

Bree’s has more time. Saints are a good, young, well coached team.
This will be a very good team.
I really have no idea what to expect from the falcons.

Simms on PFT has said multiple times this week the Saints will disappoint this season.
I know one thing, I'm ready for some football!

I tend to agree with you.
My best guess is they make playoffs and have another shite at a run for it this year.
Hopefully that cliff is right around to he corner though. Tired of that guy.

The NFL is one of those leagues... I mean, Sean Payton and Drees patented 7-9 for a few years. Then, they re-tool the line, draft a big WR, and get some key defensive pieces.
The Falcons in 2017 had a top-10 defense. From a roster perspective, I believe that they're better this year than that year.
The Falcons have addressed the offensive line, so, we'll see how it plays out.
Though injuries were a major factor in competing for a title last year, I firmly believe this team underachieved from an execution standpoint. We were sloppy on offense; often times turning the ball over at crucial junctures, or outright not executing on plays when we got within the opponents 35 yard line.
From a defensive perspective, the team was misaligned and played poor angles all season. However, once Deion Jones came back, you saw a marked improvement in how we were set pre-snap. Add in DQ calling the scheme again, and Rico setting up the back-end, I think you'll see a huge improvement.
I won't make any predictions on the Falcons. It's the NFL, and almost annually, a team with 11-12 wins the year prior outright badly misses the playoffs.
My hope this year is, we stay as healthy as the median, and execute to our potential. Our weapons + our QB are unbelievably talented. I mean, the best I've seen in a while. However, without correct play-calling, protection, and execution, it will be all for not.
On a position by position basis, we have more talent than New Orleans. And the places where they are more talented (RB - Kamara v. Freeman, Brees v. Ryan), the difference is very slight. IMO the most important player on that team besides Brees is Cam Jordan. He's the only player I would unquestionably swap out for the next 3 years for who we have on our roster.
Looking forward to the fall. Will be interesting to see how we show up out of the gate. Don't be surprised if we somewhat mirror 2016, based on the way our schedule shakes. We've got @MIN, vs. PHI, and @ Indy.
Rise Up!

I don't believe that we were a top 10 defense.
In 2017, the Falcons played at a near glacial pace despite having a killer offense. Since we had fewer drives for and against, our raw numbers were a lot better than our per drive statistics, which were pretty weak.
The Falcons have never finished in the top 16 in yards per drive against in Matt Ryan's career.

That photo was taken before New Orleans became one giant AirBNB.

He really dropped off badly around December, and his deep ball isn’t nearly same.

Saints fans talk more shite about ATL, but post up wearing Braves shite (and united stuff too, bizarrely) all the time. I’ve never seen an Atlanta fan Stan anything New Orleans, outside of the 3 shady nights they spent there in college.

It's really bizarre. Those are the absolute worst fans and they can go frick themselves with a cactus. I'm sure there's plenty of room on the Astros bandwagon for them.
