Braves have won 12 straight and tied the record for consecutive wins for a team after a WS. They can break it tonight.

However, more importantly, they've gotten themselves right back in to contention for the NL East. Amazingly, the Mets have staved off the Braves for most of this win streak but the Braves are now nipping at their heels!
Let's. Go. Braves! Chop on!

For those unaware, Ozzie Albies broke his foot last night and is on the 60 day DL.

Only 5 GB on the Mets is a perfect spot to be in, currently.

I know they look good right now, but we just need to put the slightest of pressure on them to see if they are for real.

I'd bet on their patented late-season fall off.

The Braves have been a totally different squad since Harris II came up.

Well the streak started against Arizona before sweeping the Rockies, A's, and Pirates. They're currently playing the Nats, and have the Cubs next. I'm glad to see them taking care of business, but those are 6 of the worst teams in baseball.

And it sucks losing Albies. He was just starting to heat up. Hopefully he can make it back for the post-season.

Honestly I bet I could come up with better spots to be in.

It'll make the inevitable Mets collapse all the more funnier.

13 straight. This team is on absolute fire right now. Sure, we'll come down to earth some soon but gotta enjoy this ride.

The Mets are still staving us off though. They also won last night.

Mets fans on Twitter are using the return of DeGrom and Max as a reason for why they won't collapse in the 2nd half.

Love that their hopes are hinging on the arms of a frequently injured ace, and a 37/38 year old who had dead arm issues crop up in Sept/Oct. last year.

It's like they forget that they're the Mets, and we're just the reigning 4x NL East and World Series Champs.

Not to mention all the talent we have coming back in the 2nd half from injuries.

14 straight and the Mets lost big last night. Their lead is now down to 4 games. That's nothing with roughly 100 games left to play. That's beyond nothing.

Mets also forget that we lost Albies for roughly 60 games, so he'll be back for the tail end of the year. Also, we're about to get a few of our players back too. They're not the only team that can get better.

Or, I'll put it this way. Do the Mets want to play the Braves right now? frick no. Do the Braves give a hoot who they play right now? No.

Yeah as good as Scherzer is, giving him 3/$130M at this age and with as many miles as he has on that arm was a really stupid decision.

Someone was talking about the "Cohen" effect, as if money alone solves all their issues.

You can spend money all you want, but that doesn't mean the decisions being executed with that money are intelligent or the right move.

Case in point:

DeGrom is another issue and it's unfortunate, for himself, that he can't stay healthy. He is snakebitten or something.

Mets won last night to continue to try and fend us off. Forget about them though - the Braves play early today against the Cubs and go for a (modern) franchise record of consecutive wins at 15 today.
Lets. Go. Braves!

Smoltz has said on multiple occasions that he swears deGrom's injury history is related to him throwing every pitch at 100% max effort.

Of all teams to lose this streak on, we lose it to the cubs on an 11 game losing streak.

Yea wasn't the best team to lose to but shite happens. We seem to be playing well against the Phillies and the Mets have struggled against the Astros so we're down to 3 games behind (as of Thursday mid morning).

Whatever happens today, this race is 100% close again with All Star break coming around the bend. The Mets may have blown their load WAYYYY to early in the 1st portion of this season. Braves right back in this and I'm not even sure what moves the Braves make... or need to make this year.

Braves are still on fire. I wanna say they're something like 24-7 since June 1st?!

The Mets are trying to hold us off but it's definitely slipping. I think in early July they had an 11 game lead on us and now it's down to 3.5

Thought we were gonna get a game back on the Mets last night but they pulled it out in the 9th and 10th innings.

Damn, the Braves are on fire and the Mets are still, kinda, staving us off.
