A little fukin late. Lose 6 in a row then we decide to play well. Classic Falcons. Either way, it feels good to beat division rivals.

I am on board with just winning all we can. Rooting to lose sucks. This does feel good.

Defense has been lights out!

The line is pushing them around. Real fun to watch.

The defense from the last 2 weeks looks absolutely nothing like the one from the first half of the season.

D-line is getting pressure and DBs are making plays. THIS is the Falcons defense we expected to see.

I want a good draft pick, but like you said, winning just feels good. Especially against the Aints and Camthers. Sundays just feel better with a W.

Look - if we keep this up (big if), I don’t care about draft position. We were never going to pick high enough for Chase Young. We can get some studs in the mid-teens.

Keep winning. Let the chips fall where they may.

yep. i use the draft pick as justification for not getting too pissed when we lose, but I never actively pull for them to lose in the moment.

How did this team look like one of the 10 worst teams in league history for their first 8 games and then look like the best team in the NFL over the last two weeks?

It would be the most Falcons thing ever to steamroll the next 6 games and finish 9-7 only to miss the playoffs because Seattle and Minnesota will both finish with at least 9 wins.

@VAdog I’ll take that problem. Momentum in the NFL - especially with the fact we are tied to a lot of these guys through next year, I’m good with.

The team would be better off tanking now. No way this should save Quinn's job either. He was lax for over a year, he'll remain what he is, not consistent enough to be a winner.

so how exactly would you go about tanking. the trade deadline has passed and we gave up Sanu, which was a good move. otherwise, you either

A) have a bunch of players intentionally play poorly, which won't happen because everyone other than Julio, Ryan, and Grady are playing for jobs.

or

B) tell the coaches to intentionally botch their game prep and in game decisions, which won't happen because they are trying to keep from being fired.

Can't believe some jabroni's in this thread don't want to smoke the Saints on Turkey Day. Shameful.

apparently they think that current players and coaches should sacrifice their careers for the sake of a draft pick. of course, it's the same idiot already looking forward to a top 5 NBA draft pick for the Hawks after 12 or so games. Loser mentality and nothing more

I know it's not ALL of them, but Georgia fans and LSU fans for the most part seem to be more clueless about pro football than the average bear. (It also adds an intriguing layer to the Falcons-Saints couch burning competition).

For whatever reason, both are infatuated with their pro teams drafting players from their college - draft boards and position needs, be damned. On this website, on the same day - you will have Saints fans packaging Ricky Williams type draft booty for Joe Burrow, and Atlanta doing whatever it can to take freaking DeAndre Swift in the top-15, despite the fact our team needs desperate defensive help.

I will say it for every person in the back that needs to hear it one more time:

Unless you need a quarterback, or are in position to draft a generational defensive talent (Myles Garrett, Chase Young), tanking does you absolutely zero good.

This isn't the NBA. When you draft #1 in the NBA, you get a player that instantly makes 20% of the floor better.

Football is a team sport. Moreover, football has a hard cap that we are pressing up against like a pair of double-d's on a size 2 button down.

The most successful teams accumulate a lot of picks, and are good drafters.

For example: in the 2016 NFL draft, the Falcons were 8-8 and had the #17 pick overall.

That draft yielded:
Keanu Neal
Deion Jones
Austin Hooper
Devondre Campbell

3 of the 4 have gone to pro bowls. They also all were unbelievably impactful in our trip to the Super Bowl and Divisional round in '16 & '17.

There is something to be said about momentum, developing a winning culture, and getting the right players where you can get them.

At 9-7, the Falcons would still be in position to get: Raekwon Davis, Kristian Fulton, Dylan Moses, Javon Kinlaw... those players would all make Day 1 impact.

I'm never for tanking. If it were successful, why are the Browns, Raiders, Bucs, Redskins, Bengals, Dolphins, Jets, Cardinals, and Lions all still bad?

Lombardi said it best: "Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing."

There is zero reason to want anything other than a 8 game winning streak to close out the season. Unless you're getting Chase Young, there is no reason to want to have a season that could tear the fabric of an organization that has been top-10 in wins since Matt Ryan has taken over the reigns at QB.

Great post.

Of course the draft is important, but player development is the more important piece.

A lot of people have no ability to separate their college and pro fandom. There are Georgia fans who claim to be Falcons fans while rooting for Todd Gurley to run all over the Falcons. frick that noise.

Jake Fromm, thank you for what you've done for Georgia. When you get to the NFL, I'm rooting for the Falcons to do to you what they did to Kyle Allen on Sunday.
