Get on board the tank train.

I can still see the strong argument for firing a Quinn, but, tanking in the NFL isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

This isn’t the NBA. A single draft pick doesn’t automatically make 20% of the offense and defense better.

Also, if the goal is to win Super Bowls, I found out this interesting nugget on the AFMB: Of the past 10 Super Bowls, not a single winner has finished in the bottom 5 at least 5 years prior to their win. None of them had finished in the bottom 10 within 3 years of their win.

It’s worth noting that the Falcons could be more like the serial 7-9 Saints before their re-tooling, than otherwise thought. We’ve got an established QB and weapons. We’ve got a lot of talent, and seemed to have shored up kicker.

If we go 7-9, I don’t know what to do with DQ. That’s 6-2 after the break. If our defense looks like it did in SF and NOLA, it’d be worth our while to consider keeping Quinn, especially if the HC search doesn’t yield Josh McDaniels.

Things aren’t always binary. I hope this team makes it a tough decision - if anything, to continue to prove we’re the best coaching destination in the league.

I hear what you’re saying it’s just that franchises picking in the top 10 don’t see to be run as well as those in the bottom 10 (playoff teams).

Then again the patriots seem to just cheat and no one cares.

generally I would agree. I wanted to "tank" for two reasons:

1) I really dislike DQ as a coach and didn't want this decision to be all that difficult for Blank lol. I think he's horrible and his decision making regarding assistant coaches has been awful.

2) I really do think we needed that one impact draft pick (or maybe 2 if you consider the top of the 2nd round to be impact) to shore up some issues.

Most teams that draft in the top 5-10 are awful teams, period and one or two rookies won't solve that. I think we are decent when healthy and was hoping we could get unlucky with the rest of the season, lose out, and shore up a couple of issues (see San Antonio losing big because of injury, getting lucky with the Tim Duncan pick, and prospering for 15 years)

NO absolutely wanted Payton fired during that 4 year stretch and he was extremely close to being fired when they started 0-3 or whatever in 2017 before turning it around. I think the difference is Payton had won a super bowl which gives you a much bigger leash and the offense was still generally really good during that period. Our offense has not been good and our defense hasn't been either.

GO FALCS GO !

I'm cheering for the team. They look great! Building some momentum going into next season.

Good job DQ and TD.

Falcs could beat the Saints if they played today.
