When he plays defense like he did last night, he adds zero value to a roster.

As poor as Riley, Conargo, and Ender are at the plate, just goes to show how valuable Acuna and Albies are now that they are out.

I still have a little bit of hope for Riley but he's starting to look like a super high strike out, low average guy who will run into 20ish HRs over a full season if he's playing full time.

Freeman has been not great so far too.

I'm willing to give this bullshite 60 game season a wash for those guys (at least Riley and Camargo) Ender had a fluke first season with the bat and has proven to never be able to get it back. Riley and Camargo I just consider this extra at bats to work on stuff at the MLB level and next year is the year of sink or swim.

Exactly. With Soroka out and with Acuna/Albies dealing with wrist issues, this team isn't winning anything anyways. I do think it would be a good idea to give Pache live reps this year so he can hit the ground running next year. Go ahead and start his service time clock.

I'm not quite ready to punt on 2020 yet, but I am getting close.

I think Camargo had been unlucky with some ABs the last week, and the HR he blasted last night might have showed that.

I haven't been able to figure out Riley yet though.

He swings and misses at every slider.

Yeah but why hasn't he figured that out yet? He seemed to be doing okay in the Spring Training games.

Is this right? I thought something like 80% of his hits this year have come off of off speed pitches

That was his problem last year. His problem this year is he know he can’t hit the off speed so he is over committing to the off speed and now is getting beat by the fastballs

I haven’t looked up the numbers so maybe that’s wrong. But that’s the feeling I have from the ABs I’ve seen

I think he makes decent contact with breaking balls, but pitches that drop down and away he misses consistently, its tough to watch.

I believe the Touki experiment is coming to a close.

most people miss those pitches. he needs to be able to identify the pitch and lay off without compromising his ability to hit the fastball. that is his real issue, not contact rate on sliders.

Hopefully he figures it out, he has shown some real nice defense this far.

Only in the first few games and the last few games. He’s been pretty rough other than that.
