same here. I always wondered what Chuck was saying to the pitchers during mound visits. He was supposed to calm them down but usually they blew up after talking to him.

I always figured it was something like "If you don't throw strikes, it makes you unpredictable and harder to hit. So keep missing that strike zone, Sean!"

What do y'all think about Bumgarner?

Pass. He doesn't seem like the same guy who was wrecking the playoffs in the early-mid 2000s. It's the same reason I have trepidation with Kluber. He has been rocked in his last 4 playoff starts and has not been the same guy since he got shelled in G7 against the Cubs.

Acuna turned 21 today.
Acuna's 26 homeruns in 2018
That first one in Cincy is probably my favorite. Also, he hit a HR in both Fenway and Yankee stadium in his first season.

I'll go with the grand slam against LA. That was amazing and STP was on fire after it. My second favorite was his bomb against the Marlins in the first series after that piece of shite Urena threw at him.

@CraigMish
Sources : Braves appear to be a slight favorite to land Realmuto. Austin Riley is on the table. Lots of moving parts. Mets & Yanks are still in & probably need to outdo ATL to get J.T. Reds have fallen back. TB/SD def in but longshots. Not imminent.

lol... it's gotten to the point where i just ignore any and all Realmuto rumors. one day the Braves are leading, the next they are out of the running. then they are leading again.

It feels like we're dealing with him but can't get it right. I'm really not down with giving up the farm for a catcher. Their productive lifespan is not as long as a power hitting outfielder.

Anibal Sanchez agreed to a two year deal with the Nats. I'm kinda salty about him and Kurt going to those assholes
Posted on 12/21/18 at 11:41 am to Rhino5
Anibal got paid. 19 million I think guaranteed for 2 years with the potential for more.

And Suzuki got $10mil for 2 years. Nats shelled out some cash for Braves players.

Their (Kurt and Anibal’s) wall has got to be coming. I figure its this season or next and I’m glad we aren’t on the hook for their paychecks.

Can I watch Braves games on Sling TV? It says Fox Sports with "selected markets?"
Posted on 1/3/19 at 9:25 pm to adp
Yeah i watch the braves with sling.

Haven't kept up with the saga in any great detail but local outlets a number of weeks ago thought Harper staying in DC was a long-shot. Not only are the Nats considered a front runner but now Harper is meeting with the Phillies so it looks like we may be stuck with him either way.

Well the Realmuto rumors are hot and heavy again. I hate to give up Austin Riley.

The Atlanta Braves selected high school pitcher Carter Stewart with the number eight overall pick in the 2018 draft. Then, after the draft, the Braves gave Stewart a below-slot signing bonus offer, claiming that they found problems with his wrist in his post-draft physical (draftees cannot be given medical examinations by MLB clubs before being picked). Stewart ended up rejecting the offer and the MLBPA filed a grievance against the Braves on Stewart’s behalf.
The grievance sought to make Stewart a free agent and to prevent the Braves from getting a compensation pick in the 2019 draft, which all teams who offer a sufficiently high bonus to a draftee yet fail to sign him receive. The grievance was considered a long shot at the time of its filing and, in fact, the grievance has now been rejected, reports David O’Brien of The Athletic.
quote:
For the Braves, this means that they will receive a compensation pick for not signing Stewart. It will be the ninth overall pick in the upcoming draft. They will also have their regular draft pick, which is the 21st overall slot.
