How is this fair?

Maybe. I have learned that if your team is making trades and they need tons of explaining, it generally means the organization is working through some issues. Gonna be another long season next year. We should be trying to secure an elite pitching rotation. Until we do that, our season will continue to end at the all star break. The good news is we seem to be on our schedule of winning a title every 40 years.

What is hard to understand?
The Braves wanted to free up a spot for Acuna, and try to get as much money off the books for the big free agent class next offseason.
The Dodgers wanted to get under the luxury tax this year.
So, two trade partners were made. The money even's out, and we got a utility guy that we need to backup all three spots in the infield, and a good veteran pitcher(although often injured) that can eat some innings since a lot of our young pitchers will be on innings limits.
Easy trade. Win win for both teams.
It sure beats just releasing Kemp and eating all that money.

We had Matt Kemp's contract. That was certainly a major issue.

Print the shirts. Just traded for Preston Tucker.
In all seriousness, he's a nice AAAA power bat that should provide some positional depth for us in the outfield, especially if we intend on starting Acuna in AAA.

Supposedly Chipper is on 99% or so of the HOF ballots that have been returned (per Mark Bowman). I think there were only 1 or 2 out of 150 or so that did not vote him in.
I just don't even know what's wrong with people some times.
Andruw isn't doing too well. Only 8 votes so far. He'll have a difficult time obtaining the minimum number to stay on the ballot.
It's a shame. He's probably the best (if not then top 3) defensive outfielder of all time in a prime defensive position. He was done being a regular by age 30 and still managed 430 HRs. It's a shame that he broke down the way he did or he would have been a shoe-in.

it's probably the same 3 douchebags that didn't vote for Maddux. There was one anonymous voter who turned in a blank ballot, and two guys who just flat out didn't vote for him.

One guy said he didn't vote for Chipper because of his twitter antics which is the dumbest shite ever, and another guy was a Cleveland writer and only voted for Thome and Vizquel. Clowns like this should lose their ballots.

quote:Agreed. And the idiots who say that if Ruth didn't get 100%, no one should, are idiots as well. The sad thing is, that attitude has been around a long time. How the hell does Hank Aaron not get 100% of votes? But he didn't.

The only potential justification to not vote for Chipper is the ten-player limit. Yes, Chipper is obviously first ballot and obviously one of the best ten (best five at absolute worst), but you can use your vote on deserving guys who are closer to the 75% threshold (Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Edgar Martinez, Larry Walker, etc.).
I hate the ten-player limit so much.
I am hoping the SABR community will lead a push to get in Andruw, but they first need to the aforementioned four guys above to make it.

Yeah... quite honestly, it's pure garbage. If you trust all these people to actually have the integrity to vote on this shite... you should also have faith that they will uphold a standard of excellence. As it is, there are plenty of actual voters who have stated that they select the first 10 that they see that they believe deserve to get in... they don't stack rank the entire ballot and then pick ten in most cases.

That...was...amazing.
