He has done all of that with less than spectacular recruiting classes.

In the fricking Big 10. 2 stars could win that conference.

I never named a coach, ever. So how was my source ever wrong?

They still haven't told me and they are my friends.

just a joke. "over the river and through the woods" could've been their hint at jingle bells = bielema.

something else he has always done is take transfers. some of his best players.. the DL for the Texans that got drfted in the top 10 last year, wilson, were transfers.

Bielema can get started by recruiting a certain running back in North Little Rock.

He has a horrible track record with running backs.

Then why couldn't Petrino beat the Big10 champ OhioSt in the Sugar Bowl?

Why could Nutt beat Bielema in the Cap1 bowl with Dmac, Jones etc?

I like knowing that none of these posters have sources. And he's a damn good hire.

Twitter has exploded! I still don't get the hire. He's going to hate recruiting in this league. Remember he's the guy that went ape shite over Urban recruiting one of his verbal commits. Here's another quote: "We at the Big Ten don't want to be the like the SEC in any way, shape or form," - Bret Bielema

3rd in the SEC vs. 1st in Big 10 and they had to cheat to win.

I don't give a damn about his coaching. He's not going to be able to recruit here. At all. Arkansas needs a high profile coach with a pretty offense to get commits that would usually go to Bama/LSU. A&M is going to steal recruits from us left and right now. frick this hire. frick Long.

His season looked nuts this year:

September 1 (FCS) Northern Iowa* W 26–21

September 8 at Oregon State* L 7–10

September 15 Utah State* W 16–14

September 22 UTEP* W 37–26

September 29 Nebraska L 27–30

October 6 Illinois W 31–14

October 13 Purdue W 38–14

October 20 Minnesota W 38–13

October 27 Michigan L 13–16 OT

November 10 Indiana W 62–14

November 17 Ohio State L 14–21 OT

November 24 at Penn State L 21–24 OT

December 1 Nebraska W 70-31

Of his five losses, only two losses in regulation, each by a field goal. Three losses in OT. His teams were in every game. Nebraska beat them by three in September and he returned the favor last week by making sure that Pelini would not be in the running for any new job anytime soon.

Almost lost to Utah St this year and struggled against UTEP. Should do great in the SEC.

we had a high profile coach with a pretty offense and it never happened that way. petrino may not have been the best recruiter, but he won with what he had. so has beliema. Mich, tOSU, and Neb are always gonna out recruit wiscy, but that hasnt stopped beliema from being more than competitive in the conference.

we'll never be a consistent top20 recruiting school. a coach cant change what our backyard produces, and we'll never out recruit Texas and aTm in their home state. gotta find a guy who wins with less stars. beliema has done that.
