Do you constantly get upset over games like this?
Bama was clearly the better team.
We made several mistakes, but they were just better.. We don't have the horses to compete with them at the moment.
I cheer my arse off for our kids, but we don't recruit anywhere near the same level as them.
They have top tear talent at every fricking position on the field. We have it maybe in 1 position.
The sooner we all realize that the better.
It's all about recruiting.

Pretty sure that's a good enough reason. We aren't developing/recruiting well enough.

He did well. And I agree with the op, I'm not mad and really the outcome wasn't surprising to me. I do feel a little hmm deflated tho, I just hope we get better as the season goes on and we don't go on some hideous losing streak.

Reading this board I am starting to get the impression that a lot of you are ok with ceiling 8-4 teams

No, I'm not really ok with it, just not surprised by what happened tonight. I'd much rather be a typical 10 win team or whatever. At this moment, I'm uncertain whether that's a realistic goal here or if it's Bret or what.

We don't belong on the same field as a team in our division. That's a problem.

Not at all. But you have to understand that in the toughest division in football, 8 wins consistently is tough to reach and once you get there you have to work towards a higher ceiling.
Anyone who expected 10 wins this season was delusional.

This is false.
We turned the ball over 5 times and still put up nearly 500 yards of offense and 30 points against a dominant defense.
Giving them short fields like that snowballed this game and would have against anyone.

Neither would 99% of college football. Hell USC has a much better recruiting base than we do and lost 52-6

You act as if the 5 turnovers were something we did to ourselves. Bama forced those turnovers. The interceptions are a function of poor OL play. No QB can step up in the pocket and make perfect throws all game if there's no pocket and you're constantly getting your dick knocked in the dirt. Our fumbles? How many 160 pound players does Bama have returning kicks? Our players aren't as physically imposing as Bama. Not even close.

Hell I was drunk when I typed this.
I agree there is going to come a time when Bielema has to make that next step.
With that said though I think most of our fans were homers this week. Bama is a great team.
I'm honestly glad we didn't quit fighting.

Were a lot of our fans predicting a win? I don't know about that.
I don't think it's about LOSING. I think it's about HOW we lost.

The OL and the defense....that's why I'm upset.
I in no way expected to win that game.

because a man that promised physical football and ball control in year 4 had 5 turnovers and filed a defense that is literally scared to tackle

They had a bunch of turnovers too and still scored 49 points. We also got garbage touchdowns against their backups. Don't sugarcoat the loss, we looked terrible.

No, we're all right to be fed up with this crap. New season, same old mistakes. Poor tackling. Poor special teams. Poor recruiting. Poor development or poor evaluations on the OL. At some point our head coach, who I am a fan of, should shoulder the responsibility and then start making changes. Think how bad our line is going to be next season after Skipper leaves.
