Four wins in the last two years. Those of us who have been fans since the days of Lou Holtz feel as though we are living in a never ending nightmare. Year after year and coach after coach we drink the kool-aid and buy into what inevitably turns out to be yet another disappointing season.

So what makes this hire different?

Pittman really wants to be here. The last coach who wanted to be here was Bobby Petrino. Since then we gave Bert(a fat drunk) his bailout from Wisconsin. Gave John L his temporary financial reprieve. And then followed that with the worst decision of all. Hired a 14-22 Texas high school coach who never really wanted to be here.

Arkansas became a coaching graveyard in a very short time. But was it bc the job is impossible? No. Petrino won here. Nutt won here. The problem is the current culture in football. Everyone wants the easy path. Young up and coming coaches are all really about the fat paycheck. And even the old timers are out for one last taste before wandering off. And Arkansas, because of its reputation as a tough school to recruit too. Became buyout U.

There was a time when a coach like Norvell would have crawled to Fayeteville for the job. But like most young up and comers he wants to accomplish as much as he can while doing as little as possible.

Pittman is old school. He build relationships. And he appreciates the job. His contract is the contract of a guy willing to work for incentives and not that of some super-star coach who thinks that he rather than the University is the brand.

The more I think about this hire the more I like it. Get ready to be back guys. And thanks Hunter for finally hiring someone who wants the job. We've had enough from the entitled bunch.

Just his recruiting prowess alone will setup the next guy for success. He will leave the program in much better shape than how he is receiving it.

He's gonna hire other great recruiters. Pittman will be the closer for all of them instead of just recruiting the one position. You have 4* DB in Slusher that got in contact with him. Billy Ferrel wants to come back. DT Branard Wright is one to watch. Criswell flipped. There will be others in January.

I’ll wait for the staff to be assembled. I’m skeptical but maybe you are right.

Unless I'm mistaken I believe he had a role in getting Fields to UGA. One example but don't think he would have an issue translating to other positions, especially on offense.

I think Pittman is going try to get as many kids on the short term as possible , seems like he may get the class to around 9 or 10 at early signing (hopefully) then go like gangbusters after the late period guys that are left. I honestly feel like he may be able to salvage this class a little. If we could even get to around 30th it would be a miracle.

And if he doesn't get enough there, he will have to raid the transfer portal and Jucos.

I hope he get it done.

I read earlier that with Arkansas' brutal 2020 schedule, if our talent vs talent matchups go exactly like they are on paper, we would be 4-8 next year. It sucks. Becaue Pittman is going to have to win 2 games he's not supposed to on paper to even get bowl elegible.

It's amazing how Chad complete blew the easiest Arkansas schedule stretch in a decade on 2-10 seasons.
. I really think it would be wise for Arkansas to buy themselves out of the ND and Texas games.

It would be brutal, but you have got it get some winnable games on the schedule again outside the SEC.

Why we would schedule 2 of the 10 or 12 best OOC games possible to go along with brutal draws from the east is beyond me.

Even when these were slated years ago, the program was still in rebuilding mode. Go play some shite ACC or Big 12 schools and get build some wins into the schedule every year outside the cupcakes.

It's why Kansas State and Baylor under Briles and Snyder always had dogshit out of conf opponents. They knew they had to get wins for programs that were not powerhouses.

At this point we would need to play a PAC12 maybe...

We lost to Rutgers, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, and TCU during Bielemas best years.

Trial by fire I guess.

I believe all conferences should be capped at the same number of teams, then every season do 2 weekends of cross conference games.

Ranked 1s vs 1s all the way down. Two different conferences.

So it would be SEC vs Big 10 this weekend. Then SEC vs ACC a few weeks later.

I just watched the presser last night and while he rambled a lot, he said some good things that may fly under the radar because it wasn't a polished, rehearsed speech.

He basically said we are going to practice tough every day, that you can't expect to be tough on Saturday if you aren't tough the previous Sunday through Friday.

He also said that he thought he was a good recruiter until he went to Georgia and that he learned to be an even better recruiter under Smart.

He also brought up one of his high school coaches who taught him that you can take your mind and body further than you think is possible.

Also said he wasn't tied to any single offensive philosophy and wanted to stay adaptable.

Pittman can fail and it will still be an improvement. You have to be a total frick up to make us as bad as we have been. Even a shitty coach can get us over two wins.

Arkansas needed two thing. One an ace recruiter. Two a very good offensive line coach. We get both in Pitt now if he can bring us a decent QB coach we should be pretty salty really soon.

Oh and come on down Barry Odom. Be nice to have a defensive coordinator who has more than one scheme.
