To be fair Baum itself is fairly ugly, at least compared to todays new stadiums.

The original master plan sketch:

And whatever happened to this? Would have rather added this, helps block some of the soup factory and looks clean.

It currently looks like some shite TCU or Baylor would have at their stadium, not commensurate with a top ballpark

It is true though, it is a top ballpark because of the size, player facilities, fan support, scoreboard size, and Hog Pen, not it's architecture. I understand why some from other teams come here and wonder "what's the big deal" since they DGAF about the "charm" of Hognoxious or the brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha's drunken hollering in the hog pen

Concessions have sucked arse for a long time as well

The only negative comments I've seen from other fans so far this season is that our sight lines down the left and right field lines are pretty bad. Probably moreso in RF.

Wish we would add cupholders. I actually think the new loge boxes look pretty cool but yeah they don't match the actual building at all. Maybe once fans are allowed to hang out on the pavilion part it will look better.

I’m not a fan of a lot of the ugly building they’re putting up on campus lately.

I've always hated how the campus is such a mishmash of different architectural styles. The architecture building is such an eyesore, but not exactly out of place since nothing matches.

It's like a neighborhood with no covenants around approved builders and plans, so every house on the block is a different style. Ranch, Victorian, Modern, Cape Cod, etc. all together on one street.

The most discouraging thing about this entire thread is that the average fan understands what this building should be.

It should just be an extension of Baum. You want corrugated metal cladding on the outside? Fine. Make it green, to match the batter's eye and other parts of the stadium.

It's really simple. The problem is every architect is trying to make something that "stands out" and clashes with its surroundings or adjacent structures. They want attention drawn to their ugliness, so they might get their flowery narrative published in some magazine. The simple approach would just be to design a beautiful, complimentary structure. But if you did that, other architects might never know your name....

Architecture is as fricked up and broken as every other part of our society. They deliberately create ugliness, then try to convince you that it's beautiful.

I was just thinking last night how ugly the new apartments they're building across the street from the stadium on Beechwood are. It's a mashup of white, grey and brown siding with random brick on some of them. Can't imagine how anyone thinks that looks good.

A more pressing issue IMO is remodeling BWA.

The palace needs some serious attention.

Was watching OM-Arizona and thought damn, at least we don't have a shipping crate for a hitting center in RF.

Why don’t we have fans up there? Would make it less of an eye sore during the game. Thought that was the plan?
