This right here.

What people don't understand is that Mike is winning a LOT of games. Auburn is in no better place than we are even with Bruce Pearle as the coach. Sure, they're ranked now, but the rankings don't really mean shite when it comes time for the tournament.

A 16 seed beat a 1 seed last year.

I would hate to see this place if that happened to us. "forget all the frickin wins, we lost in the first round!!!"

And we followed up that 27 win year with a colossal bed shitting 16-16 record. Pearl is following his 26 win year with a top 10 team.

Pearl also had an assistant thrown in jail and is probably still sweating the law to this day.

I can't believe people try and compare him to Anderson. The programs are on pretty equal footing (except Auburn being ranked currently) and Anderson isn't bringing heat on the program by playing contracted players.

I can't believe people would seriously compare those two situations.

He is comparing results, years, and coaching/recruiting.

Pearl, Barnes, Etal.

we lost seniors and Portis/Qualls early to the draft. Jacorey and Babb left. we lost an entire roster almost. and still finished at .500 and were within a handful of OT losses from making the postseason.

Pearl has had some seasons at auburn that many here would fire him for. Pearl also had a lot more flexibility to purge his roster and bring in hi$ guy$.

In the top 10. How many top ten rankings has Mike gotten us to?

This is the same crap I heard with BB. "He runs a clean program". Look where that got him and us.

This is one thing that both sides need to be more consistent about. No one gives a shite how well you do during the season if you get upset early in the tournament. On the same note, no one gives a shite that you under performed during the season if you make a good tournament run. Obviously, the better you do during the season helps to make the tournament easier but the bottom line is coaches are judged on their tournament finishes.

Bo's show today sounds like they are reading straight from this board. Bo defending mike, and a bunch of others criticizing mike for the same things they have for years.

Pretty sure there wasn't a fanbase on this planet that wanted to be the first 1 seed to ever lose to a 16 seed. But we don't have to worry about being a 1 seed anytime soon.

Well let's strike Pearl from the list. That leaves Barnes and "etal" (whoever that is). Maybe we should ask Barnes to be our coach? Or John Calipari?

They're gonna have to wait a few years though. The coach we have now is doing a good job.

ETA: And I'm not so sure even Calipari is totally in the clear with these current investigations.

We may need to strike another hypothetical, which brings us back to Barnes. Anyone else?

ok, I'll bite, Frank Martin had fricking USC in the sweet 16, in how much time?

Has MA has Arkansas to a sweet 16 yet?

IF we are going to go on assumptions, this isn't one, it is a fact. Freaking Frank Martin... Over, MA thus far. Yep, USC sucks this season, but at least they got to a Sweet 16 in less time than MA has gotten us a 1 and done.

I am sure there are more....

South Carolina is currently terrible.

One of the things I like about Anderson is that he's never had a losing season. Ever.

We will never be consistent enough in the regular season under Mike to get a top 4 seed and that's the main problem I have with him. March will be an uphill battle and we'll be playing higher seeds consistently. We will always lose games we shouldn't under him and it will continue to impact our seeding. If we do anything in March under Mike it will be as an underseeded cinderella. Not saying it's impossible, but I have zero faith in Mike to put together a team that can consistently perform week in and week out and I think most of that is stylistic. Whether that is dice we want to continue to roll or not, so far it seems like the big wigs are ok.

If there's no difference between the two it isn't intellectually honest to say one is better than the other...Was the point.

ETA: Especially when you consider that Carolina has fallen off the map since their one tournament run that they got nothing to show for.

Suggesting Frank fricking Martin would be a better coach here than Anderson is ridiculous.
