I was there at the Bud from the very beginning, man. I don't go back much farther than that though. I'm not that old.

Why are you congratulating me that our team lost. You must have it twisted. You see, I actually want our team to win every game. I just don't shite my Depends every time we lose.
Some people around here actually hope this team loses games so they can justify their hatred of our coach. I'll never understand that mentality. In my opinion, those types of people aren't real fans. They're just natural born haters.

Congrats on being such a huge MA fan.. With his coaching, recruiting, and inability to do what he came here to do... you will have plenty of seats to set in and root on Mike.
BoarEd, I think MA is a heckuva man, and wanted him hired. I have been to games, golf tournys with him, dinners, etc. I still love him as a human being.
But he has had long enough to not only turn the corner, but be in the top 10-15 every Year. With our facilities, history, funds, there is no reason we cant have that. With the touch fouls being called all the time, his style of defense isn't as effective as it once was.
So, let me ask you this. If you are paying for something and have been fairly satisfied to a point, but then slowly realize that this is a good as it gets at the current price point, what do you do?
Do you continue to be comfortable with current results, or pay more for better results?
I am slowly moving toward the pay more crowd, and moving one with our program... Been moving that way for 2 years now

It actually isn't so much that I'm a Mike Anderson fan, even though I'm sure it appears that way. I'm more a fan of this team and that includes Mike Anderson as head coach.
If Mike hadn't appointed Scotty as an assistant, this would be a much different situation in my eyes. I too had grown frustrated with the lack of results, but lately the recruiting has taken a huge jump. That being the case, I think Mike has bought himself some more time. Because if he continues to bring in upper tier talent, he is going to have a team that performs at an elite level. His teams always play higher than their recruiting stars suggest the will.
I think this team, this year, has a chance to be very special. Time will tell if that is correct or not, but I am not surprised at all to see them faltering early. This will be a fearsome team later in the year. I am certain of that.

You nailed it BoarEd
Low expectations by the fan base and the GOBN
See Heath and Failphrey
Most fans are too young or dead to remember Eddie and Nolan's teams and the runs they made.

Fake news. I have high expectations. Truth be told, if the powers that be had decided to ditch Anderson and pick up Beard, I would have been fine with that. I see Mike's tenure so far as largely successful in bringing Arkansas back to national relevence, but I was anxious just as much as the next guy to make the jump into a higher tier.
Again though, as I stated in the last post, that has changed for me with the addition of Scotty Thurman as an assistant coach. This in my opinion, has directly correlated to signing much better talent over these last two cycles. And at this point, I think Mike will be able to make that jump himself going forward. And I couldn't be happier for him. He is a great guy, a great role model, a great coach, and a class act. When this team makes the jump to national contender either this year or next, everyone will be on the Mike train. Except you. Because you have an agenda and it's fricking obvious. My only agenda is what's best for this team. And I'm stoked.

Are you serious? We are not relevant in any fashion. We struggle to get into the tournament every year and get bounced early. Mike can hang his hat on almost beating NC.
Tennessee and Auburn are ranked in the top 10. Mike's time is up.

We're already paying another football coach.
We're not going to do that with basketball as well. Especially given the disaster that has become the stadium expansion etc.
He's not going anywhere for quite a while.
And great, Hoiberg, another guy with ZERO connection to Arkansas. I'm sure he would just love to come here with our breadth of in state talent and proximity to ZERO large metro areas.
He would have 5 better options than us at almost any given time.

Watching the perennial punching bag Auburn basketball program enjoy success that we have not seen since 1996 is depressing.
When Mike was hired I had delusions of grandeur. I thought that, for sure, within 4 years we would be a perennial Top 25 team again.
I admit I was wrong.
Is it time for me to accept our new role as a middling SEC team like Boar, Stone, and Dale?

What does this have to do with winning? Pay the man and connection grows.

Auburn and Tennessee doesn't have a problem with it.

We don't need a hot girl. We already have a sharp dressed man. Don't understand what that has to do with anything. The coach we have is doing well right now. Thankfully. It's a welcome reprieve from the three months depression I just suffered because of our frickin football team.

MA won 27 games in year 4, Pearl won 26 in his 4th year. both lost in the rd of 32. shame we went up against a pretty great UK team that year while auburn edged past the pack while under NCAA investigation.
