"what I was told today, is they will make him (Malzahn) say no before they move on to another candidate"

Way to go out on a limb, Mike Irwin. Damn he’s a douchebag.

Why wouldn’t we seek interest in one of the winningest active coaches in the SEC

Can’t say at this point that I would be too disappointed with that decision. But GM will have to want to come here because Auburn will want to keep him now. Hell aren’t they #6 in the CFP rankings? Nuts if they run him off.

I’m no conspiracy theorist, but part of me wonders if they’re kicking Long to the curb in order to get Malzahn in play.

One would have a hard time believing Malzahn would have taken our job now after being passed on by Long in 2012 if he were still around.

Just throwing that out there.

Some of us actually graduated from the University.

Hiring Malzahn is the dumbest fricking move possible.

Why do you hate Arkansas?

Of course.

The big boosters paying all these buyouts are going to want to make the call on HC.

They’ll chase Gus and we’ll be left with scraps after other schools make hires.

We are so stupid and not necessarily because some want Gus. I don’t but I’m fine with most who kinda want him. However I just don’t understand the mindset that he’s coming home since it’s obvious to me he despises us nor the idea that we must have him as if there’s a total of 3 candidates in the whole world. It’s just so myopic in my opinion.

How much money have you given to this University in your lifetime?

Why would Gus want to leave Auburn, when they're doing well, to come here? Is the thinking that he really just wants to come back home that badly?

I could see it if Auburn wasn't doing well, but otherwise, it seems like an odd move.

^^This and what Feral said

Long would not have touched Gus and everybody in the state knew that. This really really wreaks of chasing Gus. I don't like it one bit but I also think there's no way Gus leaves Auburnz he knows he could be on the hot seat at anytime there but the talent at that school and the ability win Natty's is too big of deal to pass up.

In a real twist of fate... It would be incredible if Long was hired as the Auburn A.D!

I agree. Gus would have to be so confident that he could recruit here and Idk if that's a bad thing or he will look mental to leave a good team to come here. That makes me scratch my head.

If they get stomped by Bama, there won't be much of a melt.
