He’d have to have a hell of a big year. I don’t see it.

That is probably what will happen. Jefferson goes after the 2022 season and Arkansas goes into the 2023 season with no QB.

The most Arkansas thing ever would be for Hornsby to wind up at Auburn and proceed to win a Heisman and Natty.

It definitely would be, but they just took Calzada so I don’t see him transferring to possibly be a back up again.

I’m thinking Big 12 or going back home to a Texas school of some sort.

Yup agreed. Even if he has an above average season I could see him walk.

That leaves KJ and Coley as only scholarship QBs for 2022 if reports are correct about JSJ hanging it up.

He is gone regardless. Players aren't going to stay four years anymore if they have any type of pro potential. Fifth year senior QBs are rare.

Well this sucks! Hornsby is exactly the type of elite talent that Arkansas rarely gets.

I really wonder sometimes if you truly know our teams roster.

Lucas Coley was a 4* QB who has great potential and has a much bigger body frame than Hornsby. Arkansas will be fine at QB. We also have the Ole Miss transfer on roster.

Someone tweeted Malik “how about you just portal over to the slot and we call it good?”

I don't follow the roster like I should but NIL will make it difficult to follow it. Things can change in a few years and Coley can transfer out before the 2023. NIL will make them more impatient as they see no need to sit on the bench when they can get immediate playing time some place else. This will be the new norm.

How he did it seems like an odd way to announce

Bit of a red flag it wasn’t legit

Maybe initially, but with enough busts and broken promises by both players and coaches I could see the market leveling out a bit and we return to a bit of normalcy after a while. I certainly don't think every year will be like this one, and I don't think the NCAA is done tweaking the rules either.

The NCAA ASAP needs to get this NIL under control or it will destroy college football. Letting NIL without any type of rules is stupid.

Have we heard anything on Mekhi Wingo? Mizzou board thinks it is Ark vs LSU for him.

Stud all SEC freshman DT that entered portal today.

NIL was a byproduct of the O’Bannon ruling(s), and the Supreme Court’s ruling in NCAA v. Alston which was the ensuing class action suit. The latter ruling came down in June 2021, so the NCAA had basically no time to act.

The problem now is that Pandora’s box has been opened. The NCAA doesn’t really have the capability to oversee the legitimacy of thousands of endorsement deals. You thought boosters and bagmen were creative with Dodge Challengers and jobs for momma. Now that shite is in the open and unfettered.

Coley would have passed Malik on the depth chart by then anyway.

It’s as easy as us all starting an LLC. and funneling money through that LLC. to a player we have a deal with.

It’s not rocket surgery. aTm figured it out.
