Chavis I guess is going to be more aggressive on defense. I would think that makes sense to try sense not being aggressive last year was a disaster, so only thing you can do is try something different

An aggressive defense on paper should always work better with the type of offense Morris wants to bring to the table. In theory if the offense is clicking, the defense isn't going to get a ton of rest even on long drives because of the tempo. That is ok though if you can be aggressive and force turnovers. Memphis had a great combination of that last year.

Although we dont have many of them it sounds like we do have plenty of talented safeties

I know I should probably temper my enthusiasm but Joe Foucha sounds like he’s going to be a legit safety prospect for us going forward.

Richardson foucha kurl pulley Ramirez calloway. I think our secondary could actually be decent this year. Especially when we aren't playing 10 6ardd off the ball and actually let our athletes make a play

The news about foucha is awesome. I thought we brought him in to play nickel honestly, but if we took him as a FS and he is legit that is awesome! I couldnt decide if him or mason would be the bigger get. I thought mason might be the guy, but i knew that a kid from LA might be better since that state has such a high level of talent. Wasnt he the #1 safety in LA last year???

The news about noah gatlin being as good as they think he is also is quite nice.

If we can get some offensive tackles then maybe we will be better than we believe in a few years.

One thing i found odd was how we quietly moved buster brown to corner. Our 4 star safety has been moved to corner, when we moved curl to safety who played corner last year. I almost felt like curl was more athletic than buster back when they got recruited.

I would need to watch their highlights again to make sure of that.

We were actually thin at safety. We had our 2 starters and then buster a RS fr, and then micah smith who was a 2 star we just took because bert swung and missed on that #1 safety who went to texas.

So we moved a guy who had a bama offer to somewhere he might not play, from an area we are thin.

Maybe they feel so good about foucha, and they don't feel good about what is behind our starters at corner???

I believe Foucha and Mason are now running as our 2nd string safeties. Moving Brown to CB allows you to get your best folks on the field.

Here was the initial 2nd string on Friday when the media was there:

FS Myles Mason
SS Joseph Foucha
LCB Jarques McClellion
RCB Montaric Brown

Pretty positive he was a 3 star athelete or qb. He may have played corner in highschool and im confusing him with the guy who transfered already.

That 2016 recruiting class didnt have very many super highly rated guys. It was littered more with low rated athletes who were extremely raw or undersized in some cases.

Seems he was a CB in high school, and mcelwain made a late push for him but didnt sign him.

Looks like Kelley is going to be the guy at quarterback. At first I didn't think he would be able to run this offense, but his stature actually helps a lot in short yardage situations when they're moving so quickly.

I think fans will really be surprised at the speed of the offense. They know it's a HUNH, but we haven't seen the Hogs run that very much in the history of the program, so it will come as a shock when they see it in action for the first time.

My money is on Storey. Unless Kelley has taken to coaching better than last year, he's still a head case.

Chadillic won't put up with his attitude from last year.

It's Cole. They dangled the starting job in front of Storey so he wouldn't transfer. He was the first teamer all through spring, and then a little bit in fall. Now Cole is getting all the first team reps in every practice.

Not to say this couldn't change, but if the season started today Kelley would be the starting quarterback.

I’d much rather have Kelley if I’m choosing between the two. He’s a load to handle on the read and has the arm to throw the deep shots needed in this offense to keep the tackle box clear.

If he’s not good enough to start then I would rather get the younger guys more reps honestly

Only thing Storey has on him is throwing on the run, Ty is better at that. But Cole is better at pretty much everything else. Plus he has more charisma and natural leadership ability. That can't be taught.

He's definitely the second best quarterback though, need him in case Cole goes down. There is a major drop off after Cole and Ty.

Yep. Morris obviously understands the culture that was in place and is taking the right steps to change it.

People really want to believe that one of the young QBs could be ready to step up and play but that really doesn't seem to be the case based on a few different things.

Love that Morris holds them accountable. Old school coaching at its finest.
