If we had a competent AD, we wouldn’t have been looking for an AD and a coach at the same time.

But if the next move wasn’t to go all in for Gus, we wouldn’t have had to bend over and take Chad Morris.

Like it or not he has the program bowl eligible for three straight years

I hate when people say this.

Everyone was bowl eligible his first season. 3-7 was that record. It’s pretty misleading.

And the response will be he won three sec games when the previous coach won none.

What's the expiration date on this? 10 years from now we hire a shitty coach will Chad Morris still be the bar? To say Pittman deserves a pass because he exceeded Morris levels of winning can't always be the answer. My 9 year old is a better coach than Chad Morris, should we hire him since that's the measuring stick?

exactly being better than arguably the worst P5 head coach in college football history isn’t really that much of an accomplishment. “Oh wow, you’re not complete and utter dogshit???! Here’s 6 million dollars!

He's been here three years. Three bowl births after three years of no bowls.

From a national perspective Arkansas needs to give him another year and a chance to right the ship.

The last time Arkansas "fired a coach to soon" the top targets landed at equal dumpster fire of programs and Arkansas hired a career offensive line coach.

Did this perspective play a major factor in this result?

I dont disagree with this, as long as we aren't "waiting to see" how the year plays out. I feel like his termination date should be based on who/when we think we can get a solid replacement. HY should already be looking.

Granted it was a 10 game SEC schedule with added opponents of Georgia and Florida. Take those losses away and that's a 3-5 team in conference play which probably means 7-5/6-6 in a typical season

No coach is afraid of making $15 million for a losing record.

I’m kinda meh on Pitt at this point but I’m curious who you all think is knocking down the door to come coach here? If our last coaching search is any indication…..

It is an attractive job that pays a lot for being bad.

Arkansas isn't going to get any established coaches because of the damages they did to themselves. So they need to go after younger coaches that are hungry for success.

It does. We are one coach removed from being the laughingstock of college football. We take a flyer on a guy who wants nothing more than to be here, and restore some dignity to the program. He wins more SEC games in his first year than the previous coach did ever, and then goes 9-4 his second year. Then one year of underperforming, and we want to shitcan him? How much stability do you think any prospective coaches see here?

We all thought Arkansas got of the basement of the laughingstock.

But Liberty.

I don’t think that makes as much difference as people want to make if it. To believe that about your coach is to believe that he is sorry enough to do that. Plenty of coaches are going to work just as hard, regardless of their pay. I think Pittman is one of them.

You don’t think people work harder for a bigger paycheck? You don’t make sure everything you do is more clean when you are up for a raise?
