the more I think it could be Venables. Am I just dreaming, thinking that way? I mean, if our guy is in a non-playoff bowl game, or even the NFL, there wouldn't be a big reason to keep a poker face, would there?

It appears none of SMU's defensive staff is joining Morris here so there has to be a DC that's agreed to come, just still playing football.

I think it is 1 of 2 things.
1. He is still coaching and is a VERY good hire. That's why we're waiting.
2. He has no idea who it will be and is just throwing shite out there to see if it sticks.

I'm not saying definitively he won't come. I just think it's foolish to seriously consider the possibility. I'd love to be shocked.
I also know how our fan base thinks. If they get "Venables or bust" in their minds, they'll be disappointed with anything less, even if it's a solid hire.

I am authorized to say this much...
It's looking more and more like they were in Morris very early on. They did a good job keeping that name under wraps. Misinformation abounds.

Seems odd, certainly if it isn't someone coaching in a playoff game. I guess I'm getting nervous as well. I think the new coach's success will hinge on this hire.
