Briles has the It factor in regard to charisma to become a head coach

Thankfully I don't see many if any head coaching jobs he will want after this coming year of the jobs that might come open. Rice, Tulane, Texas State? Hell no he doesn't want any of that.

South Florida? Yawn. Arkansas State? Hell no.

Going to Texas as an OC would possibly be boarding a sinking ship. He doesn't need that. Makes Texas less than a lateral move. texas

OC at Oklahoma would be a lateral move, if Lebby got a quick head coaching job to leave OU.

I would just be really surprised if he took any of those type jobs.

OC at Alabama or Georgia if they offered? I wouldn't blame him one bit.

My annual football mental illness will kick back in soon and anyone here trashing Kendal or Odom or Pittboss, I will not be responsible for my terrible un-Christian language @ you

what does scare me is losing Briles straight to the Dallas Cowboys as an assistant with a path to become an NFL OC for Jerry Jones.

You have to figure John Stephen loves Briles and Kendal has an ear or three in the Cowboys camp. That would also help him move past all the Baylor baggage.

So I'm not saying he would become an NFL OC by January 2023, but he could certainly get a QB coaching job with a clear path to an NFL OC opportunity. And of course he would love for that to happen in the state of Texas.

Running game and defense looked good. Passing was a little shaky but always hard to tell in these scrimmage situations when they blow the play dead so fast. Still, not much separation with the receivers and a few more drops than I’d like. I can see why Pitt wants another WR in the portal.

so same as last year I will say I believe our secondary should be pretty dang good this year so hopefully the lack of separation is more of a sign on how good our D backs are and less how bad our receivers are.

they went inside Walker Pavilion because of the rain and threat of lightning

Times-Record - Christina Long

FAYETTEVILLE — It wasn't a typical spring game, but Arkansas football hosted a spring scrimmage on Saturday at Walker Pavilion.

The practice was mostly in scrimmage format, but only the third-stringers actually went full-contact. The first and second teams "thudded," or practiced without tackling.

"I think if you asked our kids, they would tell you this is the most physical spring that we’ve had," coach Sam Pittman said. "I do believe we’re thudding a lot better than we ever have. Our practices seem to be more physical that way."

The Razorbacks were supposed to practice inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, but rain forced the scrimmage inside and closed it to fans. Arkansas isn't finished with spring practices, but a concert at Razorback Stadium next weekend forced Arkansas to host its quasi-spring game a week early. Arkansas will hold practices next week, but they will be closed to the public.

Pittman said he wasn't impressed with the passing game on Saturday as quarterback KJ Jefferson was 8-for-14 for 67 yards, according to unofficial stats, and backup Malik Hornsby was 4-for-14. The single scrimmage isn't representative of the whole of spring, however, and Pittman said he feels Jefferson has improved.

"He's much better in his reads right now than what he was at any time last year," Pittman said. "I don't think we particularly threw and caught the ball well today, especially in the two-minute drill, but he's a lot better player than what he was last year, and it's because he sees the game faster."

The players are raving about Drew Sanders at linebacker. He’s going to be a beast.

He would also make a great tight end but with his speed and being paired with Bumper this should help our defense a lot…..

I know they want a WR in the portral, but I want to see how a defense is going to be able to stop Sategna and Hornsby lined up on each side with KJs deep ball ability.

I just don't believe Hornsby will be playing WR a bunch... What would we do if KJ goes out and Hornsby is split in half? That dude is fast, athletic, but still small...

I don't see Hornsby a starter at QB. The reason he is still behind K.J is the lack of depth at that position. He will need to move to WR if he has a shot in the NFL.

I swear it's like pulling teeth to even find out from our "media" when our practices were and et cetera

our last practice is supposedly today, spring practice done, today, and yet the closest thing to reporting is Christina Long five days ago from the Fort Smith paper

the Admin at the UofA made it apparent that no other interviews, or pressers would be done following the spring game/ practice. Not sure why... but it was in several news releases and all the rest of the practices would be closed.

this time, not the reporters fault... but just this time

IDK, thought it was odd how during the telecast of the televised scrimmage, it was let known several times that there wouldn't be anymore press allowed at practice, and no more pressers.

Odd for sure...

Just seems like this would be an ideal time to capitalize on the media and branding aspects of things. Especially as that becomes more important to the sport.

I can't imagine muss not having pressers or players not having pressers. Or content not coming out regularly about the players.
