Spinoff from thread on tRant: What Hog player would you take from 2009 to 2013?

Can be any player from the five year window of 2009 through 2013 plugged into the current roster.
I know the obvious answer is Mallett, but I'd probably take Adams, Wright, Cobi or Childs pre-injury to give our WR corps a playmaker and consistent pass catcher. Allen has looked pretty decent this year, but we still lack that clutch set of hands who can catch balls reliably on crucial downs or take a screen or drag 60 yards to the house.
I toyed with the idea of Jerico Nelson, but I'm not sure he'd be a significant upgrade over what we're trotting out at linebacker right now.

Yeah, Cobi offers that blend of size, speed, balls skills and playmaking ability that we desperately need at receiver right now to complement Allen and our ground game.

Any of the WRs some that BP era. Like I said in the other thread.

Give me a healthy Childs any day of the week and twice on Sundays. When healthy he was as good as AJ Green.

Joe Adams. We need a guy like that who can turn nothing into a big play. Throw him 6 or so short passes per game and see if he can break something. We could also use him on end arounds a la Keon Hatcher
We could also use someone who isn't afraid to actually field a punt.
Childs/Hamilton/Wright had better hands, but Joe was better at getting open and making plays with his legs than either of them. That's really what we need with Brandon Allen's (sometimes) questionable arm.

A healthy Greg Childs was the best receiver to ever set foot on the Arkansas campus. Period. The dude was an absolute freak of nature, some of the stories about him on campus still make me chuckle.
Adams was better in space, but nobody, ever, was as good as Greg as a WR at the UofA (when healthy). His blend of size, speed, hands, physicality, and hops was something to behold.
My answer is Malcolm Shepherd.

I don't necessarily disagree that Childs was a better receiver overall than Adams. I just think we could really use someone with Adams' skill set right now.

I think Joe would kind of be wasted. We have a few "Poor Man's" Joe Adams clones on our team in JCorn and Jojo. We don't really have a Childs clone. Hatcher isn't far off in body type but is in everything else. Honestly Henry is probably the closest thing to a healthy Childs that we have and that is sad. Hopefully this Jordan Jones kid lives up to the hype.

I said a healthy Childs in the other thread say the same here. Before that Vandy game he was turning into an absolute monster, was also a hell of a downfield blocker. He would fit our needs right now like a lonely goat in the back of the barn fits an Aggie's darkest desires.

ruh roh. Smackover down on a Smackover kid. What's the legit story?

Jake Bequette, Greg Childs, Jarius Wright
Them before I'd swap out BA. He can make plays with his feet better than Mallet or Wilson, he's getting better by the week. Just needs to improve his down field accuracy some.

Got the measurables, but lacks toughness and great hands. If it clicks, he can be great. But he sure gets hurt a lot. Especially on dropped balls. Should DOMINATE at this level.

The easy answer to me is Ryan Mallett or Greg Childs. However our problem is with defense. I would love to have four years with the Anthony Leon that was developing the last five games of '10. That kid was just beginning to grasp the speed of the game when his eligibility ran out. I think he would have been a beast if we had him for four full years.

Forgot about him. He did bring it.

Adams was the most electric playmaker we've had in years. Only McFadden and Matt Jones are on his level in recent history. There were better wide receivers here during his time but he was a threat to score if he was anywhere on the field. He could change the momentum of a game in seconds. His impact on our special teams in addition to his playmaking on offense makes him the obvious choice for me.
