'll admit, I thought Enos would be exponentially better than he was. As bad as he was, he was still a vast improvement over Briles.

quote:wait so the guy that got fired midway through his first year and produced one of the worst offenses in Arkansas history was betted than the guy that produced back to back top 25 offenses, won us back to back bowl games? I mean I can understand not liking briles, he had plenty of faults, not liking the gimmicky bullshite, thinking there were too many procedure penalties and wanting him gone but worse than enos? Cmon man enos offense was terrible and only rivaled by chad Morris in its ineptitude.

How about calling a time out before half to work on a two minute drill? Or letting the backup QBs throw the ball? We had purpose behind action, which draws a stark difference from not knowing what to do.
Probably the thing that excited me the most was the fact that we actually used the game, especially the second half as a practice and you could tell that some of the backups could step in a be useful day 1.
We are screwed by a couple of injuries.

In 3 offensive stats that really matter, Briles offense was worse than Enos in two out of three.
3rd down conversion: 2023 38.29%, 2022 45.88%
4th down conversion: 2023 62.5%, 2022 45%
Red Zone efficiency: 2023 91.89%, 2022 83.05%
All the yards and touchdowns against weak teams doesn't mean anything. It's like taking yesterdays game and declaring BP the greatest OC in the history of the game. (He may actually be, but I digress)
I completely agree that Enos was not the same guy we had the first time, and deserved to get the boot. But the proof on Briles in in the pudding. TCU was coming off a 12-1 season, had incredibly similar stats in 2023 as Arkansas did in 2022, and went 5-7. His offense is and was a team killer.

Who got injured?

Kutas and Armstrong are still injured.

Yeah, not listening to someone who pronounces "button", "buh-en". Dude may be brilliant in his analysis, but I'm not listening to anyone who talks that way. Get off my lawn.

quote:I can think of a bigger one. PPG. Briles was way better at that. Enos teams barely fricking scored last year. We lost to byu with enos when we hung 50 on them with briles. With basically the exact same team. TCU lost a shitload from the 12 win team and also got a ton of miraculous luck that season. Briles may not be gods gift to football but by most metrics he was better than enos. Namely we won more games and scored more. Which ya know, id say is more important than 3rd down %

I bet TCU wishes they could say that. Briles offense was good for production, typically when it wasn't crucial, and it zonked the defense in nearly every game. We can agree that Briles offense was better than Enos' the second time around. We'll have to agree to disagree about his first stint.

quote:no we don’t. Enos offense was better than briles or at least equal too briles his first go around. But that’s not what we were talking about, at least I wasn’t. I’m talking about the most recent offense we had before Petrino that was enos second time which was a disaster

quote:Simply a matter of games played. Mallett would have set untouchable records if he'd started a 3rd season. He was averaging over 3,500 yards per year.
Can't believe he left Arkansas as the all time leading passer. It shows historically how weak Arkansas has been in the passing game.

Enos II, Return to Fayettenam ranks among the worst sequels of all time.

3-7
8-4
6-6
Briles didn’t exactly set it on fire here.

Sorry y'all I wasn't trying to hijack the thread, I just thought it was funny how fast the worm turned.
