I'd be an arse too if my line was giving up sacks and pressure to FAMU and New Mexico State

Seriously though, he saw the future in week 1 when Colton Jackson was getting beat by FCS talent.
I think Cole is the future. I hope he keeps his positive attitude and fire. Austin had all of his passion beat the hell out of him starting last season at Auburn.

For the most part, Kelley didn't hold on to ball too long and take unnecessary hits. I liked his poise, passion and confidence, especially going up against the best defense in college football. He wasn't scared of shite.
I'm not laying all of the QB woes at his feet, but Allen has gotten a bit of a pass on holding on to the ball too long, being too reticent to throw, taking unnecessary and/or downright avoidable hits, and making terrible decisions unbecoming of a 5th year senior. If Austin plays that football game, their defense takes one or two to the house.

I thought Kelley did pretty well, all things considered. He needs to tone down the velocity on his short throws, but other than that he looked promising in his first start, all things considered.
For me, last night showed me that our WR's can in fact get open against the best secondary in the country. So, to me it isn't a WR can't get open problem concerning Austin Allen. Our WR's are pretty salty to a point. Brandon Martin should have been on the field all season long(don't buy Bert's bullshite, Martin has been in his doghouse not injured). Martin has the body to be the guy over the middle. Jones and Nance have the speed to be the guys on the outside.
It is still mind boggling to me how a coach cannot use the personnel he recruited properly. Just like the OL. Bert would rather hold a grudge and act like a teenage girl than win games.
Back to Kelley...He just sees the field better IMO. He is taller and knows he has a big enough body that it is going to take a huge hit, or multiple players to take him down. He stood in the pocket last night with a presence we probably havent seen since Mallet. A commanding presence if you will.

Agreed. CK didn't go down without a fight. He broke free of several would be sacks and was able to throw the ball away or a few to receivers that had a chance for positive yards. Obviously, some of those throws were dangerous, but not bad awareness for a first start against that defense on the road.
He showed absolutely no fear and no frustration. Completed two 4th down passes. Brought the heat on a slant for a completion. He definitely impressed me last night.

But Stewart does things the right way so we'll keep putting him out there

Oh I know. And TJ Hammonds is on the sideline.
I guess the point of my post is this...
When a new coach comes in next season, the transition on offense isn't going to be hard to go from a slow paced program, up to a HNH type of spread team. What I saw last night says that the pieces are in place for this team to run and gun.
The entire offense looked more comfortable after halftime going no huddle. Things were clicking. Then for some reason, once we get inside the twenty we start huddling up and the offense went to shite. Par for Enos and Bert at this point.
The OL even looked more comfortable going quick. It is less time to think. Less time for a talented defense like Alabama to sub in their deep DL rotation. It gave us an advantage for a while. Then, we start huddling inside the 20 and giving Bama time to get fresh bodies on the front.
Ugh...Im rambling now but it is things as small as that, that piss me off about Berts stupidity.

I liked Cole. I don't have a problem with Allen starting over him if/when he gets healthy enough. I also don't mind Allen's attitude. People are getting real butthurt over that. The kid has been hit more than any QB by a long shot. He used to get up after those hits just like Kelly did and just like his brother did. This offensive line will eventually ruin any QB out there.

This right here is why I want an uptempo offense at Arkansas. We're never going to have the hosses up front to deal with an elite team like Bama's defensive line and linebackers. So speed it up, wear them down, and try to bring them down to your level.

Exactly. We've got to transition to the spread, and we actually have the talent and recruiting footprint to compete with it.
If we bring in a decent spread coach, we could make some noise next year. We'll have some good pieces in Kelley, Whaley, Hayden, Nance, Martin, Jones, and the TEs. We also get most of the OL back, so it's not a complete rebuild on the line (insert joke about how they suck).
A coach who isn't a stupid, bumbling, lazy idiot could win 9 provided can he can fumigate the sorryass soft loser mentality and culture Bert and Herb have instilled.
