Yikes, Bielema just threw him to the wolves publicly.

quote:

The Morning Rush? @morningrushshow

Bielema: We have to get a new kicker because I'm done with this.

RIP #1 K recruit in the country, never forget.

i'm going to get railroaded for this but this actually amkes me respect bert even less.

Bert is all ab out being uncommon and doing things the right way. It's a fricking game. The kid probably just had the wrost fricking day of his life and he goes to the locker room and finds the coach of his team who can't put up more than 1 lucky arse touchdown, throwing him under the bus.

When shite gets real you see what people are made of. Bert is a phony fake fat frick who is all talk and is just a lalzy fricking recuiter. A real man would have handled that shite later, not in a press conference in front of the entire state. A real man helps get the guy who he is supposed to help turn into a man, through waht has to be one of the roughest days of his life

The Georgetown Providence NCAAC game in 85 when that guy turns the ball over the first thing John Thompson does is hug him. not crucify him. not toss him under the buss. that's a fricking coach.

He has consistently choked on chip shot field goals. Today wasn't an anomaly. Bert has given him too many chances, even more than fans wanted to. That's why everyone hated the decision to kick that FG.

Yeah, I tend to agree. You say and do that in private, not in a post game PC.

Hedlund sucks and is done at this level, but he wasn't calling a terrible offensive game, whiffing on tackles or playing for the field goal on 4th and goal from the 3.

A true leader handles that tough conversation behind closed doors.

The idiot hasn't mentioned the bad oline coaching or recruiting once, but feels the need to trash his kicker who probably hasn't had much coaching since he arrived in practice.

Tells me all I need to know about berts supposed character.

I tend to agree with you. When a kicker is that bad I can't even blame him. I blame the coach who put a guy out there that can't make an extra point.

I honestly can understand why he threw him under the bus so hard Hedlund earned it. Think about it. If we get that first chip shot field goal we're up 10-7 and have the momentum swing our way- we miss and then stagnate. Then when we could have made it 10-14 and yet again have momentum on our side on a CHIP SHOT LITTERALY PAT LENGTH ANY HALF DECENT HIGH SCHOOL KICKER MAKES 95% OF THE TIME LENGTH field goal and he hits the freaking upright and they score a td on the ensuing drive. His misses didn't cost us the game but it destroyed all of our positive momentum twice in inexcusable form being how easy those kicks we're. Bret deserves to be pissed.

The kicker sucked, it was not why we lost. Only a part of it.

I'm not sure I have a problem with this. Think about it for a bit. He has stood up for Headcase Hedlund for a while now, brought in someone to work with him in the summer. Had his back.. At some point, he has to make it clear both personally and perhaps publically because he backed him publically several times.

Now, the same goes for the fat man as well. Turn about is fair play.

The amount of momentum we lost both times, after penalties and turnovers were killers. We had a bit of mojo and then Headcase Hedlund struck again.

Yes, he is a kid, and I will be nailed for this is guess.. But he has been around a while and is paid via scholly to make his kicks. Kicks folks, not hard ones either.. just KICKS.
