Gundy - Honestly, I think he's gotten too good and too entrenched at Okie St.

Jeff Brohm - he would be my #1 choice and he would probably come, but the Petrino connections could be an issue.

PJ Fleck - I think he's still too unproven and possibly a gimmick, but he probably couldn't pass up a chance a the SEC.

Lane Kiffin - there's absolutely no way I want him as our coach, but he would damn near pay us to coach at Arkansas. We'd have decent recruiting classes too.

Scott Frost - has quickly turned around UCF, and if you want an Oregon style offense...he's the guy.

Dan Mullen - I still think he wants out of Miss. State, but is he waiting for a blue blood type job...possibly Florida

Dark horse candidate: The Pirate...I still don't think he'd come and I don't know if he could win more than 7 or 8 games here, but dude would be fun.

I know there's others out there, but I can't think of them

Tee Martin- best recruiter in the country, which yes is easy at USC, but dude is good at QB development. His offense isn't much different from BP. Give him the funding for a top notch defensive staff and it's off to the races.

Plus if we win with him the UTk fans will melt bigly

Tee is a good under the radar name, but Long (if he's still here after this yr) has said numerous times he won't hire a guy without HC experience.

he won big at Texas tech and got his team ranked right now at Washington fricking state. He could definitely win here imo. Also chad morris wouldnt be a bad hire. I think Mullen would come and I'd love that

Eta: fedora wouldn't be too bad I don't think but he's not my first choice

Should we consider Major Asswipe if he has a good first year in Houston?

I just can't see the folks paying the bills hiring a Longhorn. Young folks may not care but the older folks still do.

Well he sucks at it unless one falls in his lap like BP

agreed, Longs track record of hiring is shaky ....at best...he hit one home run with Bobby, and Anderson has been mediocre at best. He's also torpedoed (by our standards) the men's track team.

I just wonder if there is any chance Long gets canned over Bert and his extension. Who fires him btw, the President?? Regents???

I figured it would be BOT or whatever. A group fires him. Maybe the president.

I really do not see long getting canned, at all.

I really don't see CBB getting canned with the buyout we have...

I can't imagine any scenario where Long would be fired.
