Glad to see I’m not the only one. I like a lot of the G5 names being tossed around too. But, I need someone to convince me he isn’t the best possible candidate right now. Seems to check all the boxes most people are looking for.

P5 head coaching experience. This seems to be the main hangup on most of the other candidates. I’m not saying they have to have it, just one of the negatives I see thrown around.
Ties to Texas, Florida, and possibly some Ohio region recruiting.
Only making around $750k at FAU. Think his buyout is around $2 million.
Offensive minded coach.
Probably only coach out there that hates Texas as much as our fanbase. Would love the Texas melt every year we beat them with him on the sidelines doing the Horns Down. Missouri probably hates him after their bowl game a few years ago when he was mocking their QB.
Young enough to still have something to prove and not just cash a retirement check.

Also noticed he was Guiton’s OC as OSU. His stint at Texas wasn’t great, but has anyone been great since Mack Brown?

Traylor and UTSA just went to FAU and beat them 36-10 so there’s that.

Surely Yurachek realizes the decision to keep or let Pittman go and who his replacement is could cost him his job no matter how successful all the other sports are. Now if Muss gets a Final Four this year that could save him, but that’s about it.

We just need some excitement in the program again. Losing 6 in a row no matter how close they were has just sucked all the life from football. Our coach doesn’t have to win the press conference, they need to win games.

Realistically in no particular order:
Chadwell

Lebby

Briles(interested how he’d do running the show and might bring his dad with him)

Elko

Traylor

Agreed.

There's this weird narrative that he was a disaster at Texas, which isn't true at all. He was better than people think. Had a 10 win season, finished ranked 3 of 4 years (including a top 10 finish), 4-0 in bowls, and is still the last coach to beat Georgia in a bowl game.

He weirdly got fired after a pretty good 7-3 COVID year.

On paper it looks solid/very good but hard for me to get past some of the antics

Although, considering its Mizzou, our fans might love that

Winning cures all as well

Hire Lebby and Briles will probably be his OC.

I’m fine with that
