To be fair Indiana had to play at Duke. If it was on a neutral floor, or in Bloomington, I think it would have been closer. But there's no doubt Duke is a much better team.

Gonzaga looked like a team that knew what they were doing. Every player on that team is disciplined and extremely talented. Duke obviously has more talent overall, but it's young talent.

I expect both of them to meet in the NC game if the brackets allow it.

As of right now we look like a NCAA team, but we are so young. The most encouraging thing I've seen so far is their basketball knowledge and unselfishness. There will be lots of growing pains once conference play kicks off, but hopefully it won't be too much.

What I'm hoping to see is our bench begin to contribute in a major way. Guys like Chaney, Phillips, Gabe, Desi etc. We don't need them to do too much, but don't make silly mistakes on a regular basis.

Next Opponent: FIU

7pm SEC+

Kenpom predicts a 89-73 win

FIU beat a bad Florida Gulf Coast team by 1 last night. They are 7-1 on the year but haven't played a sub 200 kenpom team yet. They are not a good rebounding team so they shouldn't be able to take advantage of our weakness as well. While they shoot a decent FG%, they don't shoot the 3 ball well. The best defense they have faced so far ranked 160 in defense efficiency (Fordham), they lost to them. Arkansas is currently 34th in defense efficiency.

I believe they also play up tempo which will go horribly wrong for them if they aren’t knocking down 3s

I think I heard today that Florida International is leading the country in forced turnovers.

This will be a good game. They like to play our game and they're good at it. I'd like to see Isaiah Joe shooting from behind the line tomorrow night. Haven't seen one of his 9 tre ball games yet this year. He will have a chance tomorrow night.

I expect Arkansas will once again get these guys in foul trouble and win with their bench. FIU is a talented team, but not as deep. Hogs win.

Yes they do, average almost 23 a game although the competition hasn't been great. We are not far behind them with almost 20. They also lead by a tad in Assist to Turnover ratio. Having said that, we have played 3 teams better than their best and they also lost that game.

They have gaudy stats for sure. No matter what their competition has been, they're gonna put up a fight. Any team with numbers like that is a well coached, talented team.

That being said, their top to bottom talent isn't as good and Arkansas has a bunch of smart players out there. Anxious to see how it turns out.

We will see, their style could be dangerous for them if it starts to get out of hand. This is going to be their toughest environment, will be interesting to see what they look like when things aren't going their way. Probably not going to be able to wear them out. They play about 8 players per game vs our 9.

Where’s the game thread and did we win? I feel like you’re behind on things, Pio.

Yeah, I don't think we will wear them out so much as I think our guys will get into their bench by getting their guys in foul trouble. We'll see. I'm excited to watch these guys play again. Fun team to watch.

Playing pretty well so far. Joe is hot from behind the arc.

This team that averages 96 points per game is shooting 28% from the field so far.

Arkansas defense putting the clamps on another good offensive team.

It's the style of ball. Same way as we tend to give up big nights to good 3 point shooters, FIU is doing the same for Joe. He may end up with 9 or more.

Not doing it the way I thought either. Our guys are the ones in foul trouble.

We need Joe to keep stroking them. Otherwise this game will get close when Gafford fouls out. Or Chaney.

They have the potential to make a big run but their best player looks like he wants to tap out. They are going to be sucking air in that last 10 mins.
